Hi
I am at a loss as to what to get the family I work for for the holiday. :confused3 I am a nanny and work for a well off family. Have everything and they can buy what they want. I can't really figure out what to do. Last year I got my boss a scarf just for her. I had only started in July and met the husband 2x so I just got her something and the baby something. This year I have a little more of a relationship with the whole family. I just don't know what to do. Please help any suggestions?

What about a GC? It sounds like they are a hardworking family who maybe doesn't have a lot of time to spend with each other.

A GC to a local movie theater, or a local museum something where they can go as a family. Present it to them like that, that it would be for a family outing!

I have thought of a GC to use as a family. Here is the problem, they won't use them. They get put aside or lost. Plus what I have to offer is not much money wise so I feel like it wouldnt help much. I am so confused:confused3

A nice basket with their favorite crackers, cheese spread and wine? Or a nice photo frame with a family pic or a favorite pic of the baby. Finally I would suggest a "gift coupon" for a nite of babysitting so they parents can go out together.

Fyi budget is around $25. They do go out every Tuesday evening that is my late night. A night of babysitting would cost me close to a 100 bucks or more so that is out. A gift basket might be nice.

I agree with an ornament. Hallmark makes so many nice ones. Or any other really. My friend nanny’s for a several well off families, she usually gets them some board game they don’t have to play as a family. The one family has a drawer FULL or gift cards. Hundreds of them!! The wife gets them for being on committees and stuff and they NEVER use them. She is encouraged to use them with the kids for meals or take them to movies and stuff like that. Crazy huh to have a drawer full of giftcards not being used.

Maybe an ornament for a family picture with the year on it. Or get one and put a piture of the baby in it for them.

Oh yes sounds familiar. There are a ton of Gc's laying around. She just gave me some from April that she found. Must be nice. But i might be going the ornament route. We will see I am liking al the ideas. Thanks so far.

This may not help for this year, but maybe next year you can make them a photo book of pictures of things the kids do when mom and dad are away.

Have the kids make a craft. I LOVED when my sitters did that. Just warmed my heart. Another great idea is a photo album with photos from the year. NOt sure if you took any or have access but you can go to cvs, walmart, shutterfly and put a photo book together with captions. I LOVE mine!

I would steer clear of ornaments, to me they are a very personal choice for someone's tree. I would just give a food gift. If you don't know them well enough to pick a small gift for each of them, then I would go with food :confused3. I used to be a nanny and agonized over what to get my "wealthy" bosses for Christmas. It just depends on your relationship with them, really.
