Is there some sort of gift certificate you can buy for use at Disney World? I want to give a friend a gift certificate that could be used for whatever she wants for her upcoming trip. Can you still get disney dollars to spend there? Where can you buy them? Does the Disney store still sell them since they are owned by the Children's Place now? Thanks for any advice you can give!

I just gave Disney Dollars to my niece & nephew for their trip in June.
I got them at the Disney Store. They are a great idea. And the kids are thrilled to have their own spending money. But please advise...they are the same as money (at Disney Stores & WDW). There is NO way to replace them if they get lost, except by paying for more.

The Disney stores (at least around here) are also selling a Disney gift card which can now be used at WDW too. You can chose whatever amount you want on it. The ones at our store had Mickey on them. Again, it's like any gift card - don't lose it.

You can also still buy the Disney Dollars (1's, 5's and 10's).

The big difference is that you can use a $10 disney dollar to buy a pack of gum or something small like that and they will give you real money in change.

Any money left on the gift card stays on the gift card. I was told that most places in WDW take it.

I just bought my WDW gift card through the mail. They charge shipping fee, but the card comes very fast. It also comes certified. It had Mickey Mouse on it. We do not live near a Disney Store, so not sure if they sell them there.

hmm i just bought my 2nd disney card at disneydhopping.com and they did not charge me a shipping fee.

I use them to save for disney.I used to use disney dollars, but this takes up less space.I buy 1 card for each day of our stay with the budgeted amount on it.I also keeps one days worth of Disney dollars for any place that cant take the card like street vendors.I dont like keeping the whole trip money on the card in case something happens to it.Although it should be treated like cash, disney's web site for the card says that:

"Q: What should I do if my Disney Gift Card is lost or stolen?
A: Promptly call 1-877-650-4327 to report the card lost or stolen. Your Disney Gift Card will be 'frozen' and funds remaining on the card (at the time of the call) can be transferred onto a new card. An original proof of purchase receipt for the Disney Gift Card is required to transfer the funds onto a new Disney Gift Card. "

So its not totally gone if its lost or taken.
