Has anyone tried this?

Go onto ebates where you get 2% back on purchases, and buy $400 (they will only let you get 8 $50 cards at a time) using your 5% red card.

$400 X 5% off at target = $20
$400 x 2% check back from ebates = $8 check

I'd need to do that 12 times to pay for my whole trip

$20 x 12 = $240 off from target
$8 x 12 = $96 check from ebates

$4800 - 240- 96 = $4464

Does that make sense?

For every $250 I spend in Disney gift cards I actually only pay $215. So that's $860 for $1,000 worth of Disney Gift cards. I paid for my cruise and saved $840 which paid for one of my children. Not bad huh?

I just learned about the ebates thing. Interesting! I've been buying Disney GCs through Target, and Target GCs through Raise. So far I've only done about $500 of gift cards, but I only spent about $415 total. So I'm glad I'm turning my money into more money, haha!

From ebates website :
Target: Cash Back is not available on Home & Personal electronics, Baby care (diapers, wipes, formula), all gift cards, school & office supplies (paper & art supplies), Pharmacy (including OTC), Sweet JOJO, Target Photo, Cartwheel purchases, Apple products, video games and consoles, contract mobile phones, books, magazines, music, sports and fitness equipment, grocery (food, beverage and household commodities), pet supplies, health, personal care and beauty items and and orders deemed by Target to be for resell. Free Gift Cards: Orders which receive a free gift card will have the Cash Back eligible amount of order reduced by the amount of the free gift card.

Right before Disney gift cards went out of stock last time, some people said they were going through ebates and getting 2% back. It did not work for me but others said it was working.

How did you do this? :)

I pay $205 for every $250 by buying Target gift cards at kroger using my Amex blue preferred when they run 4x fuel points and using those to buy disney gift cards from target. This helps make my Disney cruising habit affordable.

You can save more by buying discounted Target cards from Raise at anywhere from a 4 to 9% discount. Go through the Topcashback link (think ebates) and get an additional 1% back. Use you rewards credit card and get additional money from 1 to 4% depending on card.
Then use the ebates link (yes it works) to target and buy cards at 5% discount. Ebates gives 2% back.
Deposit these cards into your DVA and get a 20 giftcard for every $1000 spent on your Disney vacation.

That adds up to about a 15 to 23% savings.

I can't ever get ebates to work when I buy the Disney cards, but I use TopCashBack to buy the Target cards, then go through Mypoints to order the Disney cards from Target. Mypoints isn't as high as ebates but some people don't have good luck with ebates when buying the Disney cards.

I haven't received cash back from ebates for my disney gift card purchases through Target either. I have tried several times with no luck!

So, I go through mypoints as well. I have always gotten my points through them!

I just bought 2 Disney gift cards from Target and did get the 2% from Ebates.

Me too! Bought them twice this month through Ebates and got the 2%! Plus purchased the Target scared through raise for another % off!

Kicking myself for forgetting about Ebates for my Target purchases! Used it once on a gift card order, it worked, then promptly forgot about it. Used it on my order today and already got an email saying the cash back will be credited. I'm glad I saw this thread today.

This worked for me this morning. Bought Target gift cards at Kroger and used those to buy disney gift cards. With ebates my net cost for $200 of gift cards was $160.
