Gift Card usage on board...

OK, so we're going on the 11-Night Holiday Cruise and I just purchased two $25 gift cards to give to our girls on Christmas morning in their stockings. Will they be able to take the gift cards to guest services and have that $ put onto their KTTW cards so they can then spend the $ in the gift shops? I'd hate to give them the G/Cs and then them not to be able to use them on the ship. If they can't, we'll give them the G/Cs in the box that we are giving to the girls @ Thanksgiving to let them know we're going on the cruise to begin with. But I'd really rather put the G/Cs into their stockings on Christmas AM.

Yes, you will need to allow charging privileges on their ship KTTW cards as well so they can put the credits on the cards. Otherwise, the cards are not activated for charging at all.

Yes, I will make sure they have charging privileges. But even w/ those privileges, can we add the G/Cs once on board via Guest Services, or will we have to revise our plans and give them the G/Cs before so the G/Cs can be added @ the port before we get on the ship? That is the info I need to know so I know how to proceed w/ the giving of the G/Cs.

Yes you can apply the gift cards to your account at guest services. We just did that a couple weeks ago.

Keep in mind they can still keep charging above and beyond that $25.

Oh, I know that and will definitely keep tabs on it for sure. I don't think I'll let them know they can charge until the $25 is put on their KTTW cards and then let them know they only have a $25 limit.

Also keep in mind they may use them for other charges as well, DCL will use the money on them as credit to be applied to things like excursions as well as purchases on board.

another option: put the amounts on as on board credit PRIOR to leaving (then you don't have to deal with doing it while ON the cruise), but give them the gift cards anyway. The surprise will be just as special. KEEP THE CARDS~ In case you need a refund!!

May I suggest buying them from the Disney gift card site...they have like a 100 different designs, which is 99 more the Disney Stores/ grocery store offer.
