Ok less than 2 weeks to go before we fly out and a few last minute questions...

I have lost all my favourites on my computer but had saved a few places that do the specialised gift baskets delivered to your hotel room - wanted to do something special for the kids on arrival - some mickey ears etc - anyone recommend anything special? not too over the top but something to make it a bit more special when we first arrive??

now also - waht do you do with your mobiles etc? I realise its probably cheaper to get a prepaid sim card and use my old mobile - basicalyl I just want something for texting back home... Ive got an iphone 4 so realise I can get international roaming but it will cost me a lot more Im imagining? so what do you all do and where do I get a prepaid sim from around wdw?

thanks in advance - Im getting excited?

Are you going to DL or DW?

Disney florist that delivers in Orlando, and I think DL. Though from what I've read it's not set up pre arrival, but at a pre determined time after you've checked in. They don't appear to be that cheap, but when you've spent $$$sss getting there and the AU$ is really good, well whats a little more :lmao:

Edit...
Reread, you're going to DW!

Not sure about the sim card.

Make sure you're iphone is network unlocked before you go. If you purchased from the Apple Store it will be, but if from Optus, Telstra, etc it may still be locked. Worth a call to find out if you're not sure.

I agree with Kylie - unless you've booked the Presidential Suite in the Grand Floridian, it's virtually impossible to get something pre-delivered to your room to be in there when you first arrive. This is because they don't allocate the rooms to you until pretty much when you arrive. I know - I've tried to do this in the past and you really can't.

You can, however, get something delivered and have it there when you return from your first day at the parks after you've checked in. This I have done, and it actually worked well. We had arrived in the evening after flying all the way from SYD, had dinner and a good nights sleep and were up and out the next morning - no jetlag problems. While we were out of the rooms at the parks that first day I had some welcome baskets delivered directly to the rooms, and the kids loved it. It was the next best thing to a gift basket upon actual arrival.

I was kind of disappointed when I originally settled on having to get them delivered the next day BUT after the event I think it was actually a better option. I think the kids enjoyed it more being delivered the next day because the night we flew in they were all pretty exhausted, so when the baskets actually arrived they were wide awake and still on their "high" from Day 1 at the Magic Kingdom. The baskets were the focal point of the evening, rather than them getting all mixed up in exploring the room, the luggage delivery, the unpacking, and the desperate argument over the showers!! 24 hours on planes, 5 tired bodies and 2 showers....

ozkateer - but who did you get the gift baskets through? Ive lost the links with the options... Im happy for them to arrive next day - the kids will be too exhausted when we arrive to appreciate them anyway!

Yes need to call Telstra re the international roaming. just wasnt sure on the prepaid sim cards over there? Whether they were a better option?
