I'm stumped on how to go about making my sons 8th birthday extra special. His birthday will be during our trip. I've scoured the Disney Florist site, and considered the Big Birthday Wish in-room celebration, but it is awfully pricey for something that can't be customized.

Are there any other services out there that would work with me on putting together a magical birthday for my buddy? I'm thinking balloons, gifts from the parks, decorations, the whole works. Bonus if they deliver groceries too!

Have you tried calling the Disney Florist direct. I am using them for a graduation gift for my son. I did not really like any of the already put together baskets/boxes and I didn't like any of the baskets for the custom gift builder. They worked with me and I could not customize everything. But I was able to get something put together that I am really excited about. I used a combination of a business executive box and spa collection. I was able to remove treats that he would not like from the box and add additional items. They were very helpful in helping me figure it out and as accommodating as they could be to get it how I wanted it.

Maybe call them and explain what you want and they can help you customize something to meet your expectations, that's what I had to do.

Good Luck, hope you son has a wonderful birthday!

I used "Gifts of a Lifetime" for Christmas (they decorated our room). I highly recommend Jane and her Pixies. Pricey but it was worth every penny for us!

I have done the in room celebration packages twice now. They are pricey but the kids loved them!.. When i called disney florist i was able to change out some of the things that came with the package to other things because my kids already had what came with it. I do not think that its worth the price for the items that you get, however i do think it is worth it for the reaction you get from the kids when they walk into the room! Another thought for something special to do could be take him to pirates league for a pirate make over and then book a specialty cruise or do the pirates cruise. You could also bring along some disney themed decorations and decorate the room for him while he is not there.

Thanks so much! I always thought Disney Florist would be pretty rigid on swapping items out - but now that I see your responses, maybe I will give the in-room celebration a try.

I also need to have some sort of welcome goody basket for my DS and my DD on the first day we arrive (our tradition). I plan to look elsewhere for that. We have used Betsy a few times and she does a great job. I just couldn't decide if I should go with an "all in one" service for gifts, groceries, etc., or use multiple specialty services.
