When you enter the virtual queue do you get a time estimate and when do you pay?

We will get to DS about 11 a.m. on a Friday before our lunch reservation but don't want to hang around and wait for the cookies after our lunch.

They give you an estimated wait and you'll get a text when it's time for you to return - in my experience, the wait time they quote has been slightly overestimated, but not by much - I think we typically get the text 20 - 30 minutes earlier than whatever they told us. You don't order anything until you return, so that's when you pay.

Last Thursday, we joined the virtual queue at 4:35. They said it would be a 70min wait. I told them we were about to go to dinner, they said no problem - just respond to the text that you're at dinner. They don't reply to your response.

At 5:00, got a text that it was time. Responded as directed. At 5:20, got another text telling us that we needed to return within 10 min. But didn't fret about it. We did finally get back to Gideon's about an hour and a half late. No problem getting into the return line, which took another 20 min to get through, before finally getting inside and ordering. Which they messed up (but we didn't know that until we got back to our room).
