I am watching how they build them for the holidays and was just wondering what they did with all that gingerbread and chocolate after the holidays? Do they let people eat it or buy pieces as souveniers? Really curious. They look so good.

I was watching that on the Food Network last night and when Raven(?) commented that the Gingerbread House at the GF takes 500 hours to makes, it still comes down on Jan 2......WHAT DO THEY DO WITH IT? They can't throw that away can they? Then again, its been out on display for 6 weeks could you even eat it?

idk, but i can ask when im there in 7 DAYS!!!!! YAY!

My aunt used to work at a luxury hotel in Palm Beach and they used to build a life sized gingerbread house each year. They had to spray it down with bug spray to keep the bugs away from it. So after the holidays were over, it was torn down and inedible. I'm guessing that they do the same thing at WDW. My cousin once told me she saw someone rip a piece off the house, and hoped they didn't get too sick from all the peticides!!!

Yeah, pretty sure it would be treated in some way that would make it inedible. Even so, from all it's been exposed to in that time (sneezes being just one) I wouldn't want to partake! :crazy2:

We just returned from Thanksgiving week at WDW and we went to tour the resorts to see all their trees and Christmas decorations. The life size gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian is a sight to see. I saw a few places where people must have tried to pry a piece or two off, but I wouldn't suggest eating that house. I bet they do spray it with some kind of pesticide. It must be gingerbread scented pesticide though because that is all we smelled! ;)

There was a lady inside the house and she was selling miniature replicas of the house. She also offered us samples to try. We tried some shingles, some siding and some roof. Ir was delicious!

On the Disneyworld/Holiday show that was on the Food network, they said that the GF bakery starts baking those gingerbread pieces in August! (Maybe they freeze them and thaw them out when the house gets put together :confused3 ) Anyway, by the time they take it down it must really be old and yucky!

Someone have a picture of the gingerbread houses that was mentioned? Man, I really want to go to WDW at Christmastime!!! So much to see, and I am missing it all!!

Just dawned on me. I just proved my point with my newest tag. :rotfl:

I guess a hat was dropped. :rotfl2:
