I haven't seen ghostbusters since it originally came out and I remember me and my friends laughing and laughing at it. am wondering if it would be appropriate for kids? I was in high school at the time, and my kids are 8 and 6. I can't remember much about it other than the staypuff guy and lots of goo and the guys runnign around in their jumpsuits.

any thoughts? anything possibly objectional?

I watched it a couple of years ago with my kids, and they LOVED it! Gremlins is another good one, as is ET.

We thought the same as you...couldn't remember anything but it being funny, so we talked our DD11 into watching it. We forgot about the ghost that changes from something nice to something scary (in the library I think??), and other stuff like that. She has a real fear of something "changing" into something else (from bad dreams), so now she won't watch the rest of the movie.

There is some questionable language that I didn't remember. There is the scary ghost that a previous poster mentioned and some sexually suggestive stuff. Sexy ghost floating above one of the guys and then zipper goes down.

Totally forgot about all that stuff when I let my DS12 watch that. Oops!

Once again, it depends on your kids. Most of it is harmless fun, but there are a couple of parts that could raise your eyebrows.

I don't do horror AT ALL, and was terrified by the ghost in the refrigerator, and I was in high school when it came out! It scares me *even now* to watch that part. Having said that, I don't think I'd have a problem with my kids (11 and 13) watching it. After all, they would be watching a DVD at home where they could leave the room or FF, which is what I did with the fridge scene last time I saw it - lol. When I first saw it, I was in the theater where there was no escape!

I'm not sure I would let a 6 year old see it, but then my DD11 was scared of the evil queen in Snow White when she was that age. She would always leave the room when those parts came on. (older DD loved Snow White and was never afraid of any parts of it). You'll have to be the judge if it would be too scary for your 6 year old or if he/she would simply find it amusing.

A warning: Be prepared for them to get the theme song stuck in their heads!LOL!

There's alot of language. I don't remember all that language watching it as a kid but now that I'm a Mom and I watched it with DD, I was like :scared1:

I woudln't consider there to be anything inappropriate in it, my kids all love the movie. My youngest was 5 when he first saw it, and he wasn't scared at all, he thought everything in it was funny.

When DS18 was 2 Ghostbusters was his favorite movie along with the Back to the Future series.

He would wake up in the morning and pop it into the vcr and just watch one after another. He had all of them memorized word for word.

For his birthday I wanted to have something from GB put on his cake but by then they hadn't been popular for years so I had a heck of a time finding something. Finally a comic book store four hours away had 1 copy of a coloring book. Yes I drove the 4 hours to get it--lol.

But to see his face light up when he seen his cake with Slimer on it made it well worth it.

My 9 year old has watched it more times that I care to mention. Then again, he loves the Mel Brooks movies like Young Frankenstein and Spaceballs. There's a little racy language and like one questionable scene, but nothing that he doesn't see on regular tv. (And, sadly, hear from his mom :confused3)

My ds loves Ghostbusters. Dh showed it to him a few years ago when he was probably only 6 or so and ds was obsessed. I found the ghostbuster mobile on ebay for him one year for Christmas!

I found the pic of his cake!
