How is Ghost Galaxy as a SM replacement? I have had a couple people tell me they don't like it as much as the regular SM. Does the queue music change as well as the ride music? What do you guys think of it?

I think it's a fun overlay for the holiday and enjoy it, but I do like the original better. I can't remember about the music, sorry.

I prefer Ghost Galaxy. Mostly because the same old theme gets boring after so many years. Its a great change.

I didn't really like it. I felt like the screens seemed obvious and it just kind of let me down. I can't remember about the music at all -- we waited for 1.5 hours to see it when it was launched last year. My longest wait at DL ever.

My son (13 years old) and I enjoyed it more so than the regular, feeling it was slightly better 'lit' and easier to move your body as you saw up-coming turns.

Is this correct, DISers? We're not that familiar with the reg. one though have ridden that one a few times.

I agree that it is slightly more lit, but that is actually one of the biggest reasons I like the original better. I like it being pitch black.

Yeah, slightly more lit doesn't sound very good to me. The darkness makes the ride so much more fun!

Has anyone else noticed it being more illuminated?

I agree -- that is why I felt like I could "see" the tv screens with the projections. It was not as pitch dark as the original.

Is Ghost Galaxy really scary? My 6 year old DD LOVES Space Mountain but I'm worried that she might be scared of Ghost Galaxy. She does okay on Haunted Mansion but she covers her eyes during the Matterhorn because the Yeti scares her a little.

Does anyone know how quickly the FPs go for Ghost Galaxy? We will be there on the 17th when it opens and plan on high-tailing it over there first thing to ride it and grab FPs for later. But wondering on all the rest of our days there, how quickly we need to get over there to get FPs...

My now 7-yo did not like Ghost Galaxy last year (but loves the regular version). Some of the display screens were kind of scary for him. He will ride it, but only with his eyes closed. He prefers not to ride it when it is in the Ghost Galaxy overlay.

If I recall correctly, the FPs went very quickly for Ghost Galaxy (I believe gone around noon on the weekends). But it might not be as bad this year, since it will be the second year it is out.

We liked GG but didn't love it. We liked it enough that we would absolutely ride it again but DD10 was a bit scared (she was 9 at the time) of the ghost, he is a little creepy. She didn't want to ride it a second time. It was a little brighter when we rode it but it didn't detract from the ride for me.

Thanks!

We are crazy about Ghost Galaxy, but think it is fairly scary. Perhaps it is similar in scariness to The Mummy ride at Universal Studios Orlando. Judging by the lines that form at DL, we are in the majority. Fastpasses go much more quickly for GG than SM, and standby waits are perhaps 50% longer.

My 5 year old LOVED SM when she was 4.5 in 2008 but when we went to GG in 2009 she was freaked out and hated it. She told me she never wanted to do it again and is so happy we are going in December and SM will be "regular".

The FP went SO fast last year on the opening day. We were there at opening and made our way over (2 parents, 2 kids, 1 stroller, and 1 grandma) but the FP were already being given out for the next DAY! That is why we waited in the 2 hr line which turned out to only take about 1.5 hrs.

For the next day? I've never heard of the machines giving FP's for the next day, when they are out they say they are not issuing any more for that day. but I have never seen FP's for the next day.....

OP we went after it had been open for a couple of weeks, we didn't have as much trouble getting the FP for GG but we did grab them the very first thing we did when we got to the parks. So probably around 10 or so and our return time was very late at night so get them ASAP and I would get them first for sure.

I didn't really like Ghost Galaxy as much as I like the regular Space Mountain. I also noticed that I got a little motion sickness when riding it as Ghost Galaxy where as I don't feel that way on the regular SM. I couldn't figure out why that was.

My 9 year old would not go on the ride after riding it once - said it was too scary!

is it really that scary???
i'm looking forward to riding it for the first time next month!! :)

I am 99.9% sure I am remembering correctly. We got over there and I remember seeing the machine time didn't look bad but then talking to a CM he said it was for the next day. Maybe someone else can verify...but my husband remembers the same thing. There was a massive lineup just to get the FPs.
