I'm considering a GF dessert party for Wishes - anyonehave any info that they would like to share?:teacher:

LOL Lurkyloo I should have been more specific:thumbsup2

I mean like did they make the area private for you?

Is it the same menus as the Epcot Dessert Parties?

If not, what are the options available?

(Just to be sure) no charge for a site fee?

How's the view from both locations?

Any pictures?

What's the back-up if it rains? How often does wishes get canceled?

I know Janet2K had one before but I can't seem to find her posts...
I wanted to start a more direct thread about strictly GF dessert party info versus my other thread comparing it to Epcot.

Epcot and GF DPs have you roped off from the general public (or fenced off or hedge-ed off! :) ) so you have a private area

The menus at Epcot are different from the ones at GF because they are catered by Epcot vs. the GF. But I'm sure if you saw something you liked on one, you could have it re-created at the other location. There just may be some restrictions on hot/cold items at Epcot.

DP menus can be found here:

No site fee at GF, only overall food and beverage minimums. (At Epcot there's a site fee but no overall food & beverage minimum - just per person.)

Here's a pic of the Marina:

Here's a terrible pic of Wishes from a few floors above the Marina. The fireworks appear to be to the left of the castle because of the way the Marina is situated.

That's all I got... :rotfl:

Are those menus outdated on the Magical Kingdoms site, I received the new menus effective Oct 08 and they don't match at all?:confused3

Thanks for the info Lurkyloo! I don't know the marino has a high minimum
(1,500 ouch! ) but no site fee

What to choose:confused3

Anyone have any recommendations to this dilemma?

I'm having my DP at Sago Cay Pointe, It's right by the marina but is more private and only has a $500 minimum. I'm not sure how many people it can hold though :confused3 I'm only having 25. Here are some pics I have.

I have the new menu as well not the ones from the magical kingdom site. I wasn't told about Sago Cay Pointe but maybe it is because I am estimated to have 40 people and they would only fit on the marina patio. I wasn't told that there was a minimum either but $1500 is easy to spend if you have the music for Wishes piped in and I think the lowest price dessert menu is $28 pp plus taxes. Oh plus drinks. My reception is in the White hall Room and that is the back up location if there is bad weather. They make the call at a certain time. I guess they would set up the desserts inside and if anyone wanted to go out, they could.

How many people do you expect to have?

We had a DP at Sago Cay Pointe and I had 44 people there.
We had plenty of room, even with the buffet and and tables all set up..
It took me a long time to decide between here and the marina, but I am glad I choose SCP.. the marina was packed with guests the night of our DP.. I'm sure they would rope it off.. but SCP was so much more private..

They also let Dh and I walk all the way to the point to take shots.. so we had even more room..
here's our menu
Sweet Dreams Dessert:
Mini Napoleons, Assorted Macaroons, and Key Lime tarts.
White and Dark Chocolate Fondue with items to dip including: angel food cake, fresh fruit and berries, Marshmallows, graham crackers, and pretzels.
Coffees with whipped cream, shaved chocolates, cinnamon sticks, orange peel, and flavored syrups.

here's some pics we got..

and we used these cylinders as centerpieces on the tables..

we just transferred them across from whitehall.

We also did not have the music piped in.. and I did not miss it at all!

Where is Sago Cay Ponite?? Dis Disney create those centerpieces for you or did you bring them?

Thanks.

Sago Cay Pointe is lovely, it was my backup plan if the boat didn't work out. :thumbsup2 I actually contemplated that over the boat at one point because it'd be roomier.

I think the only thing that turned me off about Sago Cay Pointe was that music piped in wasn't included, on the Grand 1 it is. I could be wrong about Sago Cay, though.

Here are the GF dessert packages I was given, but you can customize. I am having a Sago Cay Wishes DP and my package is smaller, bc we're having so much food... so we're doing cheesecake lollipops, and chocolate fondue with various dippers (cakes, fruits etc) coffee and tea for $22 per person. If you're wedding is at the GF you will not have a seperate food/bev min. that $22 goes toward the GF $125 pp min:

I thought that you couldn't chocolate fondue at Dessert Parties? Or is that the Chocalte Fountains?:confused3

I'd heard you couldn't have chocolate fountains at Epcot b/c bugs fly in 'em! But chocolate fondue seems to be a standard option...
