GF vs Poly

Help! I seriously cannot decide between the 2!

We stayed at GF in 2014, Poly in 2015, fell in love with both. We love how pristine GF is, and how tropical Poly is. This may be our last Disney trip for awhile as we want to switch it up with some Caribbean vacations.

Knowing that we can walk between the 2, take a boat and/or monorail, I know we'll be using both resorts anyway for meals.

We have two girls in elementary school. Having done park-heavy trips in the past, we are looking to do parks in am, enjoy resorts all afternoon and evening, including fireworks from the beach.

Help me make a decision!!!

I may be in the minorty here, since poly is so popular with many folks, but I prefer the GF, and not even by a little. I love the calm of the GF, the (I love your word choice) pristine design, the food choices, and I prefer the pools (by a lot, as do my 11 & 7 yr old kids). Part of what I don't love about the poly is how busy it is with so many people from all over WDW there for the ceremonial dinner thing, ohana, and trader Sam's. It always feels crowded and busy and it's hard to relax by the pool. But that's just me, of course!

Agreed. They are both busy, but as the GF is bigger, it feels much less crowded than the Poly. The volcano pool was people soup the time we stayed there. The Poly's beach also has the bungalows sitting on it now: that's something to consider when pondering beach time. You can't go wrong with either, but for a special trip, I'd choose the GF.

Well, since you have stayed in both, I expect that you know the advantages of both. Obviously, both are wonderful in different ways. Its an apples vs oranges issue. Both are yummy!

I sometimes choose based on other factors:

Does the rest of your family have a preference? Maybe it is time to let the girls choose.

How about letting pricing / availability make the decision? Perhaps, for example, you can stay in a TPV or CL room at the Poly for the same price as a standard room in the GF?

Another way that I choose between favourites is to switch up stays. By that way of reckoning I would stay in the GF because your most recent stay was in the Poly.

Good luck! You have a wonderful, terrible problem!

We just had to make the same decision for September! We've been to the Poly once and really liked it, but never to GF. We ended up going with GF, to try something new and also the deal we got was just too good to pass up. But, since I haven't been to GF yet I can't really make a recommendation. Just wanted to chime in that I feel your pain!

I agree with Babsy. Both are great in different ways, so I would look at the cost of each, as well as get everyone else's opinion and make a decision based on those results. Good luck! :)

Are you interested in a split stay - depending how long your trip is? We are doing that in this summer. We love the CR but also love the Poly so we are doing both. But our trip is about 2 weeks. We have 4 teens and they love the atmosphere of the Poly. But either resort will be nice.

Since you'll be spending a lot of time at your resort, this might be a good chance to book a TPV or LV room and experience Wishes right from the comfort of your own balcony! See which resort has the better deals for this view, or even price out Club Level rooms and compare costs.
