GF villas?

Couple of crystal ball questions, please..

Ok, say GF is opening Nov 1. Say they open booking on May 1.

In the past, have the owners gotten first shot at reservations? Do they open them to the rest of us on a later date?

What I'm getting at is I wonder if I have a shot of changing my first week in Dec reservation to GF?

While not truly legal from a POS standpoint though understandable, they've given owners of recent resorts a couple of week reservation priority even though they opened less than 7 months out. Remember that only declared inventory is available for reservations. Given the numbers involved I say you have a shot but the chances are extremely slim.

I think having a standard view will be a big incentive to buy there. Atleast it will be for me. We stay in 1br's now so that would be a big selling point for us. Otherwise a waitlist and some luck will have to be in order for us. I wouldn't be a fan of spending 40 points a night for location. Even though it will be a GREAT one

Why do you think the location is a GREAT one? I don't agree.

IMO, it is not good for transportation to anyplace other than the MK. You do have the monorail and boat to MK, but everything else is bus or a monorail transfer at the TTC. I've read many complaints about the bus sharing at the MK deluxe resorts, and have personal (not that great) experience transferring between the EPCOT & Resort Monorails at the TTC.

It will be interesting to see what the parking situation will be for DVC guests. Self-parking for the current guests apparently isn't all that great, so unless parking is provided near the DVC building, having a car won't be the advantage it provides for some of the other DVC resorts.

The GF resort is beautiful, has a great spa area and the restaurants very good. I would be happy (actually thrilled) to stay for a mostly resort vacation. But for any park visits other than the MK, other resorts have better locations and I would be hard pressed to spend the additional points for GF.

I'm sure there are others who agree and probably just as many, if not more who do not, LOL.

That is the location I am talking about. To MK. That is where our daughter almost has to go to everyday. Having a monorail to epcot it big. Even if you have to transfer. For us riding the monorail is alot more appealing then the bus. We don't normally have a car so parking isn't really an issue. As you stated the self park at GF is the WORST! But that doesn't really matter to us.

BLT - 10 minute or less walk to MK
- one monorail stop to the TTC to transfer to the epcot monorail

GFV - one monorail stop to the MK
- 3 monorail stops to the TTC to transfer to the epcot monorail

so at BLT, if the monorail is down, you are still a short walk from MK and the MK bus hub to the other resorts...

i love the theming at the GF resort, but i would give BLT the edge on location...

We disliked BLT when we stayed there. Just not our style at all. Looked like a hotel that we would stay at anywhere. So for us GF has location and hotel that we liked.
