I have triplets who will 5.5 when we go. 2 have Special Needs. Looking for a room close to the transportation and restaurants (especially counter food), QUIET, non-smoking. Obviously would like a decent view, but I figured they are all nice at the GF. Have booked 2 connecting GV rooms. Any help with Buildings, room choices, how to word it would be appreciated.

Our DU agent will call Special (Medical) Reservations to put in our requests. Thanks for any tips and help!

Go with Sago Cay or Conch Key. Sago Cay is my all time favorite - closest to Gasparillas (fast food and refillable mugs), very peaceful and relaxing area. You can watch the fireworks right in front of Gasparillas at night and then your rooms are right there. Its not a long walk to monorail, restaurants or pool. THere is a quick back way that gets you to the bus stop in two minutes. Also you can ask for a marina view and its almost like getting a lagoon view room for the price of a garden view. Just curious, but we travel with three little ones (4, 6 and 7 now) for the past few years and we've always only gotten one room - Do you really need two. The rooms are big and the kids love fighting over who gets to sleep on the day bed. It might just save you a ton of money if you can get away with one room.

I'll second Robyn and recommend SagoCay. If you're on the back side of the building, you'll get a glimpse of the monorail going by, which is fun for the kids. There are rooms on the marina side that are also considered garden. This will give you a lovely view and the kids can watch the ducks in the water.

I'm guessing that you have a need to book 2 rooms. I know that sometimes it's easier for the kids to settle down when it's quieter and you and DH can still enjoy tv or being out on your own balcony. The rooms are very spacious and if DU puts in a request for connecting rooms, SagoCay, either marina side or monorail side, I think you'll be more than pleased.

Tammi and Robin,

Thank you for your replies. I will ask her to request Sago Cay, non-smoking, marina view. If we get the monorail view that's fine also. I know we will pleased with either. I'm just sooooooooooooooo excited about staying at the GF. When we honeymooned at the Poly in 95, we went to one rainy evening to tour the GF. DH and I both fell in love with it and vowed we would stay there one day. The theming is EXACTLY what we like, and I know the kids will love having all those fun activities and the monorail.

BTW, we book 2 rooms for the reasons Tammi mentioned. It's just a nice break for DH and I to have our own space when on vacation. It allows us to reconnect and remember why we fell in love all those many years ago! ;)

Thanks again. If you have any other tips or advice about the GF, I'd love to hear them.

Not to dissuade you from the 2 rooms, but for less money, you could go all out and stay in one room in the main building, with full service concierge. The room sizes are exactly the same, but you could have something in the wing area (as I call it), which is right over Gasparilla's Grille and has incredible magic kingdom views. It's quiet and if you're on the 4th floor, there are no rooms above you and very little hallway noise. If you were comfortable, I've seen guests who bring baby monitors and therefore have some freedom to go to the lounge (just a short 2 minute walk down the hallway) while they're kids are resting.

You get some great pre-planning assistance, with a team of CM's assigned to your vacation. Private check in, a secure floor, beautiful lobby that serves a deluxe continental breakfast, light lunch, afternoon tea, evening appetizers and late night desserts. Cold drinks, tea, coffee & hot cocoa are available from 7am-10pm while wine/beer are served in the evening and cordials with desserts. The lounge is bright and comfortable, with plenty of seating, even kid sized table and chairs. It overlooks the main lobby and the GF orchestra plays nightly on the balcony below you. Just another thought.

If it were my choice, I would totally go for that suggestion! But DH will not consider one room. He says it isn't a vacation if he can't spend some alone time with me. How can you argue with that? LOL! After being togeher 15 years (married for 10) and then surprising him with triplets... I'm just glad he even still talks to me, much less wants to spend time alone with me!!

I read it, but don't understand the problem? We will request connecting rooms because of 3 minors.

The problem can be that you have 2 adults in your group. While you can request connecting rooms for families they will not guarantee them unless there is only "one" adult needing 2 rooms with minors. Disney assumes if they can not put you in connecting rooms the adults will split up. This is not what you or especially your husband will want, but it can happen and does. Even though Reservations will tell you that they are guaranteed, the resort has the final say.

If you truly need them, I would not request anything other than connecting rooms. If you request a certain building and they don't have any connecting rooms available in that building they will put you there in seperate rooms. Make Connecting Rooms your only request and it will get priority. There truly are no bad locations at the Grand in Garden rooms. All are special.

Thank you for the clarification. I now understand what she meant. I appreciate the heads up.

triplefigs, I went the last weekend of Nov. -1st week of Dec. last year. We had 3 different resorts and they all granted our requests for connecting rooms. I don't think you will have a problem. We also used the Special Reservations line because of my MIL's special needs.

The resorts accommodated us in every way. My mother stayed in one room with our 3 children and my husband and I were in the connecting room. My ILs were in the next room. This happened at all 3 resorts.

Have a great trip! We'll be at the GF Dec.5-9. :cloud9:

I figured since it's all through the Special Reservations we'll be ok. Thank you for the positive report! If it doesn't work out, we'll make due. After all, we're still at the GF WDW!

We'll see you there on the 5th and 6th!

I don't think you will have any problems, however it can happen, but rarely.

I would not ask for a particular building though as that limits your chances. Ask for a NS, quiet location, connecting rooms. That gives them alot more lead way in giving you what you want.

I will do exactly that. Although we will also request a building close to the main building (Sago Cay or Big Pine Key) because of my kids mobility problems (they have to use assistive walking devices). Appreciate the help! DIS is great!
