Hi all

Fiance and I heading for 9 days in Feb for our honeymoon. Hurrah. We have been very torn about which hotel to stay in of the Grand Floridan, Contemporary, Beach Club. We intend to use the parks early in the day and evening and be in the hotel either swimming or in the room relaxing for the height of the day.

The Beach club has the amazing pool but needs buses etc to MK and shares this bus with other resorts so can take a while.

The Contemporary can take the monorail to epcot and walk easily to the MK but the free dining plan is not available so would need to pay for this separately. Not sure if it's worth paying extra for it if not included.

The Floridian just seems a bit more romantic plus monorail

The prices we have been quoted for their garden view rooms are:

Contemporary £5414 inc disney meal plan (or £4407 without one)
Grand floridian £5778 inc a $300 gift card and disney meal plam
Beach club £4225 inc a $300 gift card and disney meal plan

Technically our budgets can stretch to accommodate but i am confused on if it worth the extra money.

HELP!!

Thank you

For me, it would depend on how far my budget could stretch. I personally love the BC, but that's because Epcot is our favorite park and while Stormalong Bay is not the most relaxing place, I do like the lake and the various evening activities at the Boardwalk like the street performers or Jellyrolls. It sounds to me like MK is your favorite park and in that case I think the Contemporary or GF is the clear choice. 1k for the dining plan, even in pounds instead of dollars, is a good deal for 9 days, so I would take it. At that small resort price difference it would come down to whether the walk to MK is more important to you or the more relaxing and romantic atmosphere at the GF is. Reading your post, it sounds to me like you want the GF and should choose that. Have a great time!

We’ve stayed at the Yacht Club and Polynesian and prefer the Boardwalk area resorts, so I’d pick Beach Club. The pool is awesome, you can walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios (or take a boat), and he Minnie Vans are super convenient for getting to Magic Kingdom (though a bit pricey at about $35 a trip). And if you take the bus the trip isn’t that bad-maybe 15 minutes or so.

We love the Beach Club and being able to walk to EPCOT and HS. To me GF is not appealing at all and honestly neither is Contemporary. Their proximity to MK is great though and if you are planning on spending a lot of time there that might be the way to go. We never had any issues with the bus from BC to MK. You can also take the monorail from EPCOT to MK if you wanted to avoid the bus but it probably adds some time. Honestly it is probably all personal preference and no matter where you stay I'm sure you will have a great time!

You’ve got three great choices and would have a wonderful trip with any of them!
It looks like contemporary and GF are the same price when you account for the gift card and dining. So I’d probably eliminate CR since GF is the more romantic and relaxing couples resort of those two. That leaves BC vs GF. Both are fantastic in their own way.
Since you will likely be there 9 days with a dining plan, have you looked at the online menus for the restaurants on the monorail line vs those at Epcot and Crescent Lake? That may add some clarity if the restaurants that interest you most are in one area.

We did a split stay of 1/2 BC and 1/2 GF for our honeymoon and loved both! It felt like 2 different trips! The BC is my favorite resort at Disney, so I'd go with that. The one thing is that you could have perfect swimming weather in February and you might not, so if you're choosing that solely based on swimming, I'd think about that.
Congratulations!

We stayed at YC for our honeymoon. The resort was great and I loved the whole Boardwalk area. It's a great space to wander around. You also have the Swan and Dolphin next door that have some really good dining options. The Fantasia Mini-golf is also within walking distance (just across the road from the swan and dolphin).
Based on the options you listed, I would vote for BC.

Congratulations and have a great trip!

I'd go with BC due to the close proximity to Epcot and HS...and the boardwalk is pretty. Its nice having jelly rolls nearby. Also, stormalong bay is quite nice.

I would go with the BC (or better yet, YC because you will most likely get a balcony at the YC, and might not at the BC) as I believe that the Epcot area is perfect for a honeymoon. The BW area has lots of nightlife, the WS part of Epcot means lots of great dining choices, the walk around the lake is so pretty and romantic, walking or boating to 2 theme parks, a great pool area, dining at the Swan/Dolphin, better pricing, central location so no bus ride is very long and, finally, the resorts are simply gorgeous!

Don't worry about transportation from the YC/BC, bus sharing is mostly just the YC/BC parts of the resort.

If you decide that you MUST see the castle from your resort (and I can totally understand that point of view), then I would choose the GF over the CR for a honeymoon. The GF just screams luxury and romance. Plus the rooms are about the same rate as at the CR, but you will have a nice balcony at the GF and a larger room. The pools and grounds are also nicer at the GF and the garden room views are simply lovely. The boat ride to the MK from the GF is one of my favourite things to do in WDW. The lobby is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy live music or just people watch.

Whichever you choose - have a wonderful honeymoon!!

We actually honeymooned at the Beach Club and loved every minute. We were worried about the travel time as well, but we found that we spent most of our time at EPCOT anyway, so it was perfect!

I love the Contemporary. I don’t think you specified which room type you’d book? My favorite is in the main tower with a theme park view. The TV has the music for the fireworks and you can watch from your balcony, very romantic. Being able to walk to Magic Kingdom can be a huge time savor.

I like the Grand Floridian, but not a fan that many of their rooms you have to walk outside to get to your room, whereas Contemporary is more compact. But their pools are really nice, I haven’t been in the Contemporary pools to compare but they aren’t well themed, but might be less crowded. The Grand is definitely romantic, love their lobby. I don’t like their transportation. You have only the monorail or boat to get to Magic Kingdom and you have a long ride on the monorail to get to the TTC to switch to Epcot.

Beach Club I’m not a huge fan of, although I seem to stay there the most for some reason lol. But being able to walk to two parks can really save time not relying on transportation. I prefer the Boardwalk for an Epcot resort, maybe something to look at. They do have a creepy clown slide, but the slide is awesome to ride and their pool will be way less crowded than Beach Club which seems to always be packed. The Boardwalk area is also really nice to hang out at. The area has some great dining options as well.

For 9 days you should look into a split stay. You could focus the parks around the hotels and you’d get to try out two different atmospheres. I love split stays for this reason.

Congratulations!

Thanks for all your comments guys. We have taken all your comments on board and have decided to stick to the BC. Given the difference in price we can put that towards something else to make things more romantic and we can walk to epcot and Hollywood studios for the star wars stuff I know fiance is gonna love.

Thanks for all your help!

If it were me, I'd do BC - I love the pool and the location. So close to other resorts and the Boardwalk is a short walk and so much fun. I also love that you can walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The BC is also pretty centrally located to DS is a short bus ride and the ride to MK wasn't bad either.

If you haven’t tried a piano bar then you should give Jellyrolls a shot one evening.

I like your decision. Though we love the GF, if I were to choose an adult trip for just me and DH, I'd choose an Epcot resort. We love the BC and have had many stays there. The boardwalk is a nice and relaxing area to stroll around, perfect for adult time. The main park is Epcot given that you can walk there, and that's also a perfect park for adult time. Have a great time!

Honeymoon--my choice out of those u mentioned would definitely be GF, but I would not opt for meal plan--would prefer plenty of schedule flexibility on my honeymoon--more relaxing and quiet, the better.

A split stay between GF and BC or better yet YC would be the best of both worlds.
