GF Trip Report

For the first time ever, we are exploring staying off site and doing Disney and other places in Orlando.

I find this report interesting... We just got back and were there from 9/8-9/15. We stayed in a honeymoon concierge room at GF (second floor) and didn't have more than one or two little problems. They weren't anyone's fault to say... just mistakes. We found all of the concierge people helpful and nice. They took the time and even knew what we liked by the end of the week.

I'm sorry that things did not work out well for you. Please keep in mind though that those concierge cm's who confirm everything are different than those who work on the concierge floors.

I haven't stayed at GF yet (but have it booked) but I wanted to say that when it comes to complaints about a place, you don't need to have 100% negative feedback. If more than a few people are experiencing rudeness, and it certainly seems that way from the boards, something is wrong. And since the problem is often at top management as someone said, those of you who've been on the receiving end should report this to someone who is in charge of all the resorts. Meaning complaining to management at GF will probably only perpetuate the problems.

Find out who would care who is not at the GF and write a letter or email to them. How else will they find out? You'll be helping all of us and them and you may also get some perk to boot.:mickeybar

This was pretty much my experience at the GF only I did not have the concierge level.

One poster said you should wait for them to call maintenace. I wait at the Holiday Inn, at the Ritz I don't expect to... so taking the anology I would wait at the All Stars on mods, but on the conceirge floor of Disney's top hotel... That is what you pay the extra for NOT to wait, NOT to do your own PS,

What is the deal with the car??? I valet at hotels all the time and never get this! Of course at the GF I had to walk UP to the stand to get them to bother to take my car too so I wasn't surprised that it was not there when I got there to pick it up.

You are much nicer then I am. For the amount of money you paid I would have expected the BEST service. Those who think I hold the GF to too high a standard. LOOK AT THAT RATE! If Disney wants to charge that much they need to ensure a great experience!

The best solution is to take your money elsewhere. Disney notices that FAST!

Thanks for the review! I'm looking forward to reading your dining review, too. :)

I'm disappointed to hear about your stay at the GF RPC. We LOVE the GF (got married there and vacation there practically every year). I, too, had a less than stellar stay at the RPC, however. We usually book a regular Lagoon View room but wanted to splurge on our anniversary a few years ago. So, we booked the RPC. It was more than $150 more per night than the regular Lagoon View we usually book. What we found were less than friendly CM's (they would always glance away from us, no Disney smiles and hellos we had grown to love over the years). To be honest, no one seemed happy to be there. We actually wanted to switch to a Lagoon View room but it was Valentine's weekend and they were completely booked. I really felt like I was throwing the $150/night out the window. The lounge food is nice but for $150, we could have a nice meal each night.

Anyway, thanks again for the review! :)

The valet issue is crazy. Security issues? I asked the valet why the cars weren't there and they said security issues. From cars that they themselves have parked previously and from guests that they know everything about, name, address, credit cards, etc? What security issues are there from those cars?

Look into the Swan/Dolphin. We have had wonderful service there. For problems that were comparatively minor, we were given a $50 room credit and chocolates on one trip and a $15 bar credit on another. Our in-laws were upgraded to an executive suite when their room wasn't ready on time!

You sound like very sweet people...much sweeter than I would have been.

As for the valet, someone must have made the decision that they would rather have the guest wait out in the heat for the car, than the valet wait for the guest...doesn't sound like customer service to me!

This is what I've been saying about the GF RPC for a few years now. CMs all over property feel the same about the CMs at the RPC. Good luck complaining to management - we had worse problems than that and had nothing done after I spoke to someone in management twice and my fiance spoke to someone higher up after me. It was so bad for 11 days that we regret not moving to another resort. Try the BWI if you want amazing concierge service.

We've had to wait at the GF long past the 3:00 check-in for our room. We've also had CMs be downright rude to us. It's so sad that a place that used to be so beautiful and magical has turned into this. I thought that with the management changes, stories like this would be in the past, but it seems the current management is operating in the same vein as the prior team.

I don't know if the management at WDW is so used to guests complaining in order to get something for free that now they turn a deaf ear to all complaints, even valid ones. It just seems that WDW's generous refund and comp program has gotten a lot of publicity, which in turn has led many managers to ignore complaints because of the amount of people trying to pull a scam. It's a shame that valid complaints are being overlooked the way they are.
