Ok all you tea drinkers out there is the afternoon tea at the GF
worth it or not? My husband nixed the re-hitching cermony at the Garden Grill :( , so I thought this might be a nice thing to do. :D

DW and I think the GF tea is well worth it. If anyone wants to go to the tea in Dec. you might want to make PS's early. We tried to attend last Dec. and they were all booked up. They said many locals go to the tea for Christmas gatherings.

Sorry, but as expensive as things are at WDW, and I realize they are just resort prices, the cost of that tea is a little ridiculous. I suppose if you have money to burn, go ahead and do it, but there have to be less expensive ways to enjoy yourself. And I'm a tea drinker!

I realize that the tea may be expensive. You can order a la carte. I went last September while on my solo trip. I am leaving Friday for two weeks solo at WDW and actually scheduled the tea once EACH week. It was so relaxing the last time I was there. And, took the place of my lunch. But, the bottom line was that I really, really enjoyed it and this is why I'm doing it again. Of course, I don't spend much on souvenirs, I eat breakfast in my room (not a meal I care to spend money on), and don't do character meals. So, this is my special time and splurge.

Go for it. It would be a quiet, pleasant time together.

I'd say you should go for it :p I found it very quiet and very relaxing, a very nice break from the parks.

It can be a little expensive depending on what you order... You can check out the menu on Deb's site... It will give you an idea of what items are served and what they cost...

My friend and I took our daughters and had a little "girl's afternoon out" while the boys went to WWoS. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was very special.

Hi, I wasn't sure about going to the GF tea either until my daughter went and told me how relaxing and delicious it was. I am a tea drinker and have been for many years and I would like to say that it was the best pot of tea I've ever had. While it is a little pricey for some, I felt it was worth it because we went at a time that it became our dinner. We aren't big eaters and there was more then enough to fill us. I have a very difficult time sitting still and relaxing and this was a first for me. Make it one of your meals and enjoy!!!

I went to tea on my recent trip and I can't say enough good things about it. I ordered the "grand tea", and I thought it was worth every penny!!! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was so relaxing! I can't wait to try it again!

Hi Pooh67_68,
I don't know your husband's likes and dislikes so I will tell you a little bit about mine. He is a farm boy and doesn't care for anything fancy. He is also 81 years old. Our DD and I took him to the tea in June and I must tell you - he enjoyed it a lot. It is now one of his favorite things. All 3 of us enjoyed it and our waiter was great - and funny too. If we ever get to go to WDW again, we will definitely do the tea again.

We really enjoyed it this past May. It was a nice break from the parks and I enjoyed the scones even more than my DMIL - just don't tell her! I felt a little guilty though - my DH is on the Atkins diet - so he went for the cheese and fruit plate. Gave him quite alot to nibble while I savored my finger sandwiches and scone. Yum. I would go back again. DH said he would too.

Thank You everyone for your opinions. Looks like we will be doing the Afternoon Tea, I can't wait. :)

We just attended the tea in august and really liked it too! :D My sister was very skepitcal, thought I was wasting her park time, but we had a great lunch and fun! Learned alot, and now plan (and have ressies) to go back in december for it again. But this time will ala carte it with the things we liked! ;)

On a side note: We had read the contraversy about "what to wear". And we wore dress shorts, and nice shirts, however after getting dressed and over to the gf, upon entering the tea (this was a saturday afternoon) we saw people wearing everything! From a swimsuit coverup to dresses. (and I'm not kidding) Jeans, shorts, cut offs, dresses, capri's, pants. You name it and they had it on. So if your worried about "what to wear" DON'T! They let everyone in, treated everyone the same, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

MKY ;)
