GF tea? Is it worth it?

Hi all! I am getting married at WDW next year. The plan is for my mother and I to arrive a couple days before everyone else. I wanted to plan something special for her and I to do. I was thinking a spa day at the GF, maybe followed by the tea? However, we are not really "tea" people, we're actually coffee lovers ;) and we are picky, healthy eaters (I know I am making this difficult).

I would love to hear what people think of the GF's tea. Should we do this or just go out to a nice lunch somewhere? Thanks for your help :)

Personally I enjoy the high tea very much and it's become sort of a tradition for our group. It's not unhealthy - especially not in the way that the burgers and fries at the counter service restaurants are unhealthy! There are a variety of tea menus that include finger sandwiches, scones, pastries etc. You don't have to have pastry if you don't want it. They also offer a few other beverages besides tea. The room is simply lovely. If you are picky in the way that means you like quality, you will be fine. If picky means you only eat a few specific things and they have to be prepared a specific way...you're taking your chances just about anywhere.

I think that tea would be a lovely time for you and your mom - very elegant, but in a relaxed and enjoyable way. Have you looked at the menu for tea yet? There are several choices available. I went solo the last time I was there and had a bountiful meal with scones, 4-5 tea sandwiches, and strawberries and cream instead of pastries for dessert. I seem to remember that someone at another table had coffee instead of tea.

Dumbest thing I ever did - not buying a supply of the special house tea before I left.

I hope you'll go and have a delightful time!

GF Tea is definetly a must do especially for Mothers and Daughters. My mom and I go several times a year for special occasions or just to treat ourselves. If you want coffee instead of tea, they should have on problem accomodating you. We had a person in our group once that wanted Coke instead of tea and they served it in the teacup. I hope you will take the opportunity and go, I don't think you'll regret it.

Wow, after all those great reviews, I think we will do it :thumbsup2 It does not sound like we will be disappointed! Thank you all so much for your help!

I LOVE the tea at GF! It is a perfect mother and daughter activity. Tea and the Spa? I'm so jealous!

My wife and I have done this on every trip...it has gotten a lot more popular in the last 4 or 5 years. Our last experience was not very good...I think it might have been that we had one of the last seatings...the sandwiches were getting stale. That being said, I know we will return this November...and if nothing else, have a good cup of tea and some scones...we would not miss it.
