Hello! I just upgraded my July reservation to a Deluxe King in the RPC! I had some questions regarding which type of room within the category to request. I know there are the "honeymoon" rooms on the 2nd floor that overlook the marina, and there are also the turret rooms.
My first question is: Are the 2nd floor rooms inconvenient to get to the lounge on the 4th floor? I have seen some info where it involves some sort of 2 elevator system? Being in kind of your own wing, do you miss out on the "feel" of the main building?
Second, for those of you that have stayed in the turret king rooms, do you miss the balcony?
Third, and pretty basic, given the choice of the two options, which would you go with and why?
Thanks for any and all info. We are extremely excited, and want this to be perfect!

We've done both and personally I didn't care for the 2nd Floor King rooms. Yes, you have a nice view of the marina/castle but the floor was too isolated for us. Also, there was a tree blocking our view a little. Here was our view:

Also didn't like that we were basically right above Gasparilla Grill and Games. Lots of commotion coming in and out of there didn't make for the most relaxing early mornings on the balcony. The "jacuzzi" in the 2nd floor rooms is also basically a slightly larger tub with jets. So, if the jacuzzi is swaying you for those rooms, that may be a consideration.

The turret room we LOVED. :goodvibes We are "balcony people" and honestly didn't miss it at all. The unique layout of the room and how big it was definitely won us over. Keep in mind that three of the turrets face the front of the resort (monorail, themed pool, polynesian view). We were on the 3rd floor on that side. There was actually a balcony right next to our turret room that no one ever used. So, if we wanted to sit outside, we used it. Overall, the turret is my preference. Here are some more pix (these were taken prior to the decor change, however. so prints, furniture placement are a little different now).

Happy Planning!!! :wizard:

Oh, forgot to mention this. The turret rooms are just a request. We've done that category twice and the first time, the turrets weren't available during our stay. So, when you do make a choice between the two, keep in mind it's by request only. The second time we really wanted the turrets facing the MK side of course. But, they were unavailable that trip, too. So, we were placed in the 3rd floor one facing the entrance to the resort.

And to elaborate on the private elevator, we personally didn't care for it. For us, we didn't feel like we were part of the main building. Again, just our opinion. I'm sure others feel differently. The one convenient thing is that elevator takes you right down to Gaspies. So, it's a quick exit to the pool area/courtyard without walking through the lobby.

Good luck with planning! RPC is wonderful! :goodvibes

Thank you SO much! You have definitely convinced me, as the more I thought about it, I really started to get concerned about the isolation level in the hall, and the activity level over gasparilla. I know there are 6 turret king rooms....do some of them face the parking lot? If so, how would I best request a view toward the courtyard, poly, etc.?

You're welcome. Glad to help! :)

The view you see in my pix from the turret room is the one facing the front entrance of the resort on the 3rd floor. So, I would think that the 4th floor and 5th floor rooms would also have a glimpse of the parking lot a little since it would be higher than the monorail station. Our room was basically the same floor as the monorail station. I would personally request a turret with a MK view. Since you'll be in direct contact with the IPO you can also reiterate your request to them as well. Just be sure to note the request with CRO as well.

Again, it's just a request. Luck of the draw. For us, on two separate trips, the turrets on the MK side were unavailable. Then again, I've read posts from people who made no request at all and ended up with the 5th floor turret with an amazing view of the castle. Again, luck of the draw. Depending on the length of your stay, you could always switch rooms if you really wanted the turret and it was only available part of your stay. That's what we had to do the 2nd trip. We spent one night in the 2nd floor room and then they switched us to the turret room the rest of the stay. It's up to you. For us, switching wasn't a big deal because it was a long stay.

:goodvibes

Thanks again for the additional info. We are only there for a quick 4-day trip for our 8th anniversary and my 35th birthday, so I will keep my fingers crossed that it works out with the request. I swear, with the number of calls and emails I have made regarding dining, room upgrades, room requests, etc. they must be so sick of me by now.

Misti thanks so much for the info...we are staying GF RPC CL deluxe king room in Dec and now I know what type of room to request, and get on a higher floor!

DH and I did an anniversary trip a few years ago and were upgraded to a turret suite. We got the 5th floor, with a panoramic view of the Poly, lagoon and around to the castle. We moved some furniture around and were able to sit by the window and see the castle. If I remember correctly, they had the table set up right in front of that particular window.

I thought I would miss having a balcony and I did a little bit, but the room was absolutely incredible.

Here are the two different floorplans if that helps,

They are used to getting lots of requests, questions, etc so not to worry. :) Good luck with your room request! :wizard:

We haven't stayed in one of the 2nd floor rooms, but I highly recommend the turret rooms. Even after I made the request, my wife and I were both concerned about the lack of balcony. Once we were there, it didn't bother us in the least. There are plenty of windows.

in 2007 we were lucky enough to spend our honeymoon in turret room 4021. We couldn't have asked for a better room. This was our view

Sorry it took me so long to respond to you all but......Thank you, thank you, thank you! All the information has been incredibly helpful, the pictures were just what I needed to see, and it's really nice to know exactly what our options are for when we go down. Now the hard part is waiting for the next 88 days to go by. :)
