My trip is comming up fast. Were doing a garden view. Which room would you request, dormer, standard, corner? Thanks Tina:wave2:

Corner room:
Pro's - double balconies, room is a little larger
Con's - only a few available

Dormer room:
Pro's - high vaulted ceiling, private balcony
Con's - smaller room, smaller balcony

Standard room:
Sago Cay building - very private, very quiet, lovely views
Conch Key building - quiet, lovely views, furthest walk
Big Pine Key building - close to courtyard pool
Boca Chica building - close to both pools & main building

One plus about the GF is they do try to upgrade your room view. If you paid for garden and there is a lagoon available, they'll do their best to put you in one. When you check-in, just ask the front desk CM what they have.

Thanks Tammi that is one of the clearest descriptions I have seen on the various buildings and rooms.

Only 62 days to go!

I would request for GV =

a non- dormer in boca chica. Boca chica faces the main building & is nearest the main pool. We like to be near the pool. I would request a higher floor but no dormer. There is usually only 2 of us and they always try to stick us in the dormer. The valted ceiling is beauitful BUT the "privacy balcony" is not the greatest. they are very small. Only large enough for 2 people to stand next to each other, in width & depth about 2 people in depth. and I'm 5'0 and have to stand to see out. They have elevated chairs but basically you only see across at the view not the courtyard, and not the pool unless your standing, to look down. Now if your into honeymooning, or clothes optional ;) these are the rooms for you! :earseek: :teeth: you can easily leave the doors or curtains open and no one is looking in. ::yes::

As far as getting "upgraded" guess that depends when your there. Or for how many days. We have only been when it was crowded, (summer) or when it was a large convention going on. so we were never offered an upgrade. I did have H2O view twice and requested the "corner" room and they said we would have to "wait" for it. We were staying 18 nites and they did NOT want to tie it up for that long of a stay. We finally got our corner room after 4 nites (big pine key and it was beauitful and a great view) BUT the date was September 10, 2001. We had a terrible time, needless to say, and have not been able to go back to GF for the memories. Maybe if they remodled the rooms again in 10 years we might try, but for now I'm not going back. So no, out of 3 trips 1 gv 2 H2O no upgrade offers here.

We have been in big pine key: (excellent location) I always thought this was smoking but it was non-smoking when we were there. ::yes:: Conch key: twice, 2 dormers, smaller rooms, small balcony, best mousekeepers on property. ;) Don't agree that this building is farther than Sago key? Maybe tied but farther? Conch key H20: nice castle view, good sound effect of haunted mansion, BUT you get smells all day / nite from narcoosee's. :earseek: and not always good. ;) GV: lovely distant pool view and to the left lagoon view. was really nice for a gv. ;) Our 1st stay there. Nice being able to see pool, and not hear the noise if you like to people watch, BUT I didn't like standing on the dormer balcony after a while.

Dormer balcony vs. regular: Dormer was ok TILL we got a regular one. :earseek: They are huge!!!! lots to see, plenty of room, way bigger doors, you can open up the curtains full and see everything going on! OR close them and the drapery are beauitful. :yo-yo: ::MickeyMo !

Hope I didn't confuse you. Have a great time, its a lovely resort. Say hi to "rodger" great cm, He was wonderful over 9/11. He gave us the corner room that he had for his 25th wedding anniversay. ::yes:: And said it was the "best on property. He was right.

MKY princess:

I agree with the description and opinions of the dormer rooms. I did not care for ours.

I like Sago Cay and Conch Key. We did not notice any smells from Narcoosee's, maybe the wind was blowing in a different direction.

For overall good location, I really like Boca Chica. It is close to everything.

I agree with the dormer room being small and the privacy balcony is not as nice.

Boca Chica is now my favorite :) The entire length on one side is Lagoon views, the other Garden/Pool views and on the far end (near Narcoosee's) a few rooms have partial MK views - Garden view - no Castle, but view of most of WISHES, WDW Railroad, Space Mountain, the Cont., the monorail gliding in the distance and the lagoon - beautiful!

A few end rooms have 2 balconies and incredible views of everything. We had room 8345, but 8339 is a standard/garden with lovely views and I'd be happy with that or any room nearby on that end!!!

Our favorite garden view rooms are in Sago Cay (facing the marina). It's very quiet and relaxing and a lovely view. For us it was an advantage being so close to Gasparilla's, I don't know if they will have re-opened when you go, but if they are open I would definitely recommend Sago Cay.

:wave2: Thanks everyone, everything was very helpful. My oldest DD talked me into staying at the GF for my 40th birthday. This means a lot to her and I'm hoping the room is special.:sunny: Thanks Tina
