Good morning all! :wave2:

My husband and I are staying at the GF for the first time in November. I was able to get a AAA discount on a garden view room. I've also put as a request a non-smoking room with a king size bed. Does anyone know which building may have this type of room?

Thanks!
Dawn

Sago Cay, Conch Key, Big Pine Key and Boca Chica all have standard garden view rooms. Each building is basically the same, just located in different areas of the resort. The resort is really not all that spread out and the walk between the two furthest points is no more than 2 or 3 minutes.

In Sago Cay, their garden rooms overlook the monorail and also the marina. It's pretty quiet here and a good location. Conch Key has beautiful garden views, quiet location, closest to the boat dock, but that 2 or 3 minute walk to the monorail, bus and pools. Big Pine Key and Boca Chica overlook the courtyard pool, both are in very convenient locations.

Here's a link to the GF resort map if that helps you out.

Tammi,

Thank you for the link to the map of the GF. I still have 6 months to go until our trip, but I'll look it over and get familiar with the resort layout!

We're staying at the GF for the first time in November, too. Do all of the buildings have dormer rooms? Or are they just concierge level? We saw one on Great Hotels and would love to stay there. What would I ask for if I wanted a dormer room and a view of the castle?

Many thanks

It depends how many are in your party. A dormer room is fine for two or three, but you might be cramped if it's four or five guests. But the answer is yes. You can request a dormer room upon making your reservation.

As for a view of the castle, have you booked a lagoon view? That's the only way to (possibly) get your request. A lot of the lagoon rooms have views of the Polynesian, Contemporary, and the rest of Seven Seas Lagoon and an oblique view of the MK.

It'll just be DH and myself, so I'm not worried about being cramped in a dormer room. We have garden view booked right now, but I'm hoping to upgrade to lagoon view if we're able to get an AP discount. Nice to know I might be able to get both lagoon view and dormer room without concierge. :)

Many thanks.

We stayed in Boca Chica and had a view of the castle off of our balcony. We were able to watch Wishes from there. There were some trees in the way but the view was still really good. We also had a great view of the water parade. We had only booked a garden view room and were lucky enough to get upgraded to lagoon view. :earsgirl:

All the buildings, with the exception of the main building have dormer rooms. It's an excellent choice if it's only you and DH. I think they look very romantic and the smaller size is almost made up by the cathederal ceilings. The other drawback though is the balcony. Someone else maybe able to confirm this, but I don't think there was enough room for 2 people to sit out there. They are very private though, just I think more designed for standing. You can definitely have CRO note your dormer room request on your reservation and ask again when you check in. I think you'll find that because of the balcony and smaller room size, you'll be able to get one without a problem.

I know you mentioned seeing it on Great Hotels and this site has a nice 360 degree view of the room. Just click on the "360 degree virtual tour" on the right hand side of the page and the first option "standard room". This is actually a dormer room and I could be mistaken, but it looks like a corner dormer room. I didn't even know they had them, but that would be a great room to request. I think you'd get an additional balcony.

Two people can stand on a dormer balcony, but no more. A chair is provided. It's quite private; your neighbors can't see you (or vice versa) and if you're sitting you can't see over the rail.
