Sorry if this has been discussed but a friend of mine just returned from the GF. He said they were upgraded to concierge b/c of rooms being rehabbed. We are going in Dec. I am most concerned about how much construction will be going on b/c I have a DS that will be 18 months who must nap in the afternoon. We will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary so I will be really disappointed if the trip is ruined b/c of noise. Does anyone have any idea of what exactly is being done and how much it may affect us. TIA!

BTW I cannot change my reservation b/c I booked using a postcard code.

We just got back from the GF. We were there 9/29 through 10/2. Suger Loaf building has major construction going on and from the looks of it the entire building is shut down. Its the one next to the boat docks. We heard lots of noise during the day walking from our building to the main lobby but no construction noise while we were inside the room itself if that helps. If anything, the blooming ferry boats with their horns going off were much more annoying! :headache: especially if you wanted to sleep in.

As aside note, we were pretty disappointed in our stay at the GF. Housekeeping staff is pretty sad at this resort IMO. We arrived on a Saturday checking into the room just after 4pm. The next day we went to the parks and came back and it was obvious the room wasn't touched. Rested for a bit then went back to the parks that evening. Came back at almost midnight after being at MNSSHP all night and the room *still* wasn't touched. We didn't get actual service until Monday. We let the management know about it big time. It was bad enough that they stuck us by the elevator but we practically had to beg someone to come to our room to clean it. :sad2: I guess I just expected more service from a deluxe resort in that regard. While the front desk, restaurant servers and the boat captains were great (we rented the Grand I on the last night of our trip), I don't think we'll stay at at the GF anytime soon because of the horrible experience with housekeeping.:sad2:

That is a shame, I am sorry that you had problems. We have stayed at the GF many times and have loved it. In all of our numerous stays we have found no resort to be perfect. In fact I can probably name one major problem I have had at every resort we have stayed. Unfortunately it only takes one person to not do their job to cause you a major headache.

I am glad to hear the noise is not bad. Thanks!

We are staying at the GF in November and I was wondering myself. I called the hotel directly and they informed me that they are all reburbished with the exception of Sago Key which will begin in November.

Unlike pre-refurb, in which there were a few different decor themes, they are now all the same. If anyone has any new room photos I'd love to see them!

Yes I would LOVE to see those photos!

On a side note, Mousekeeping was very good to us when we were there, the only problem I found was that they came late, during nap time, one time I had to bring DS back because he had a headache this was around 3:00PM and they were just getting to our room, the worked as fast as possible but I thought it was weird that they don't have enough staff to get the guest rooms done earlier in the day.

We're going back next Sept. and are seriously considering conceirge, does anyone know if the Royal Palm area is being done over or if the rooms in that area have been done? Thanks!

Anyone know which buildings are finished or being done now?

Sugar Loaf was under construction while we were there. It looked like it was very close to completion though.

Sago Key was the building we were in. It was pretty shabby looking. Its good that they're going to work on it next.

Anyone know if Boca Chica's been done yet? We're arriving next week, staying in garden view, and they always seem to put us in Boca Chica.

Hi Eveyrone!

Recently booked a package at GF from Dec 14-19, 2007. Pretty excited!!
We were thinking of requesting Boca Chica or Big Pine. Does anyone know if these buildings will be rehabed by then??
