Bless you.....
I've been home for 3 weeks from MY first stay at the GF and NOBODY wants to hear any more about it.......
I'd love to tell you how I liked it!!
We pulled up to the security gate and gave our name....we had a concierge room in the main building so we were met at the curb. I imagine if you have a regular room, they take your luggage and you go right into the main lobby.
It's a very short walk to the front desk for check in.
The first time you walk into the main lobby and know you are actually staying at the GF is wonderful.
It's different than visiting to shop or eat.
The rooms are gorgeous. Every detail is wonderful.
It's not all glittery or flashy, it's very pretty and tasteful and everything is quality.
The mattresses were unbelievably comfortable.
The towels were huge and soft and plentiful.
The rooms have central air and ceiling fans which was great.
The grounds and the buildings are immaculate and every CM we encountered greeted us.
We ate mostly in the concierge lounge, but also had dinner at 1900 Park Fare, and lunch at Gasparillas grill.
The food and desserts were excellent.
The music in the lobby was a nice touch. The pools were clean and we enjoyed the waterfall and slide.
We really liked walking each day. We took the path over to the poly. We loved the wedding pavillion, there always seemed to be a wedding!
Once we walked on to the TTC and took the ferry to MK, walked to the Contemporary and then took the monorail back "home" to the GF.
We only went into MK the first night of our stay...we didn't want to "waste" any of our GF time in the parks.
It was such a wonderful thing to hop onto the resort monorail after the fireworks and be back at the hotel in minutes!
The flowers and landscaping are top notch. We took photos everywhere at the GF. If DH every gets them online, I'll post the link.
There's a fountain by the main pool. Just little touches like that make the place special.
We saw a bride with the cinderella carriage and white ponies pulling it the last day we were there....
The shops are nice, there are just a few.
We didn't use the spa, didn't need to. We were sooo relaxed by the second day it wasn't even funny.
There's a swing on the beach. A bench swing...so two or three can sit and swing together.
One pool has a few cabanas if you arrive early, they are great.
We liked that the ice machine was in a room with a door that closed. You never heard the sounds of people filling their ice buckets.
The laundry room was two doors down, in the room with the ice machine. That was nice too. Clean and convenient.
We found the GF to be more beautiful than any photo can illustrate.
We found the atmosphere to be wonderful. We are very down to earth, no frill kind of people. We did not feel out of place at all. There was nothing stuffy or snobby about the staff, the guests, or the hotel.
It was magical.
