GF, Poly, or CR for Honeymoon

I am getting married at the Wedding Pavilion at the GF in June and I cannot decide which MK resort to stay at for 3 nights during the wedding! On the first night, we will go to MK for at least a bit and maybe Epcot. On the second night, we will go to the pool, Senses Spa at the GF, and take a boat to the Hoop Dee Doo. On the third day, we will have breakfast at GFC or Kona, the wedding at the wedding pavilion, drinks at all the monorail lounges, dinner at California Grill, and watch wishes from Top of the World Lounge (we are DVC members and our small group will be on our reservation).

The Contemporary seems the most practical with my reasons but I do like the theming of Poly and GF better..

CR Theme Park View
-If it rains, never step outside
-Can go straight from Top of the World to hotel room
-Close to California Grill
-King Bed
-Direct boat to Fort Wilderness for Hoop Dee Doo (I think)
-Same resort as family so we can all go to the pool together

GF Standard Studio Villa (rent at 11 months)
-Close to Wedding Pavilion
-At the GF already for photos
-At the GF already for Senses Spa
-At the GF already for Grand Floridian Cafe breakfast
-One stop from MK

Poly Studio Standard
-Can use Tambu Lounge and Trader Sams with family
-Direct Monorail to Epcot for first night if we go there
-Have stayed there before and we love it

The Grand Floridian. It's romantic, beautiful, excellent service, lots of resort activities, Mizners Lounge, all rooms have lovely views, easy access to MK and overall just the perfect place to spend your wedding weekend.

Although it may be difficult to rent a studio villa unless you own DVC at the GF. They oversold the studios and they're difficult to get. Someone with more knowledge can chime in!

Just wanted to post here that my Wife and I did our honeymoon last year at the Grand Floridian. We got a theme park view Dormer room. We loved it. We watched the fireworks almost any night we were at our hotel at that hour. We REALLY loved the GF for our honey moon. I can't recommend it enough. Narcoossee's has the best food in Disney in my opinion too!

I wouldn't choose CR for a honeymoon. Either GF or Poly would be good.

I have to agree with the person who pointed out that it's not all that easy to rent a VGF studio, even at 11 months. There are 47 studios at VGF, and in general owners need to be online at 8AM at 11 months to get precise dates. There aren't a lot of owners renting. If you're willing to pay for a 1BR, availability is slightly better at 7 months.

Poly is more available at 7 months, but there aren't a lot of owners renting prior to that.

Based on your list, I would be sure to book an actual resort room at GF, or a Poly studio via Disney, or the CR Tower TPV room and be prepared to cancel if you should be able to rent a VGF. But by no means count on VGF rental. Even VGF owners are frequently shut out of studios, and are more motivated to be online at 7:58 to try to book for themselves.

GF if you can swing it.

With all of your family at CR I'd lean towards that. (If you want to be around your family that much... If not I'd say go with the Poly. :D )

As a point of clarification - Disney did not oversell Studios. They don't sell studios, they sell points. If folks bought points only planning on studios, that is short sighted.

OP I am assuming you are getting married in June 2017, not next month - right?
I would agree with Aurora, make a backup plan and then try for VGF at 7 months. I actually think the CR would be the most convenient, but I don't like the theme there as well as either of the other 2.
Congratulations and Good Luck.

We got married there (GF wedding pavilion) last September .... We also stayed at the GF and found it to be extremely convenient and to top it off we were blessed with an amazing room upgrade ... The Walt Disney Suite. We did a split stay with the Poly so our honeymoon was 2 nights GF and nights 2 at the Poly. We found ourselves wishing we were still at the GF but that might have been due to the Walt Disney Suite.

I say Gf because its close to CR where your family will be and the spa and your wedding will be there too. Plus the atmosphere screams wedding to me! Poly second. Contemporary just doesn't seem as romantic!

FWIW, I think Grand Floridian would be a fine option. But book a resort room, and certainly don't count on a DVC rental unless your best friend/uncle/guy you have pix of and can blackmail owns at VGF and will book for you at 8AM at 11 months.

Yeah, that's basically what I was getting at in my earlier post!

I have never stayed at the Grand Floridian, and I haven't stayed at the Polynesian for many years. That being said, we stayed in a theme park view room at the Contemporary for our honeymoon and loved it. I have no regrets and would choose it again.

I would narrow it down to 2, the GF or Poly. Both are great with there own special fee, food and amenities. It comes down to a personal choice.

My wife and I spent 1 week at the Poly, way back in 1977 for half of our honeymoon and had a fabulous time.

Actually they cannot over sell one size unit in the DVC. The system works on points not renting 1 size unit. The points are good for all size units. Chances are the studios are just very popular.

GF for the win! CR does not scream romance at all..... This coming from a non romantic type of guy :)

Another vote for Grand Floridian. My wife and I spent our honeymoon there.
We've stayed at both the CR and Poly, and while they're both nice, GF gets my vote. I break it down like this: CR is more convenient, Poly is more relaxing, GF is more romantic.
