I know for any month it's about $1000+ for one week, so how do u pay? do u save? how?

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean how to people afford i?. If that is your question, the same way they afford anything expensive.

Either they charge it and worry about it later, or pay cash as they have that kind of expendable cash, or save for a certain length of time.

We have a vacation account and we have Disney Vacation Club.

Many people do make very good salaries that visit Disney. I have a friend who is 25 and she got a $500,000 bonus this year. So yes she can afford to pay cash.

We stayed at the Poly & BWI last Dec. We waited for a good discount code for the hotels. We used our existing AP passes so we didn't have to buy passes & used my X-mas bonus to pay for everything. Then stayed budget for our March trip & did the POP. We definetely don't make a lot of $ so this was a once in a few years trip. Other than that we stick to the best deals depending on the codes. I've also in the past saved every month for upcoming trips & probably will do that for this Sept. trip.

DH and I are teachers and are lucky enough not to have to pay for daycare in the summer. Vacations come from ten weeks of already in the budget funds I get to keep. We stayed at the Poly in 2002, but DH actually prefers the Dolphin-- and they discount for teachers.

Save like crazy! My fiance and I are just finishing up our undergraduate schooling and for our wedding and honeymoon we have been putting at least half of every paycheck into a bank account for it. We only started doing this in January though and managed to save 4 grand for our honeymoon thus far so were alright at the moment we think savings wise. Though the half a paycheck would not work for most people. Like I said, were college students and while we pay for all of our own bills and are independent, we do not own a home so have low rent payments and don't have expensive tastes or like to go out a lot so it really is fine for us to do that. In the future we will have to plan MUCH farther in advance then 8 months before we plan to go!

So basically, save money and treat your savings as a monthly expense. No, well the car broke so we need to use it for that. Nope! Share cars until the next paycheck. Stuff like that.
Wait for discount codes. We are using the 7 for 5.
Find a good travel agency (like AAA who is getting us the best deal we could find) though I have heard there are a few good internet ones out there as well.

Good luck by the way!

For us it really is a matter of choices. We love the Poly and are going back this summer for the second year in a row. On top of watching for deals, we make a point to save for it ahead of time. A few things we do that make a big difference are.

1) Eat out only for special occasions (birthdays, anniversary, ...) it is amazing how much money we have "found" this way

2) Toss all our change and small bills into a cookie jar every week

3) Avoid some of the extras that would be nice to have but are not needed (new TV, new Cars) when what we have is perfectly usable

4) Make it a regular bill we pay every month - "write" a check to the vacation fund as I would any other bill

On top of this I will be honest, we do make a good income but nothing out of the ordinary (I am an engineer and wife is a teacher) so it is a bit easier to find the money to pay to the fund. But with a little careful planning and some good luck we find a way to do it.
