We're going to surprise the kids with the pirate cruise on our trip in August but I was just wondering when I need to book this?? Does anyone know how far out it books, and also if I have to pay when I book it or do I pay it the day of??

I don't know about the pirate cruise but I just tried to get my boys into the Pirate League for our trip in April and couldn't do it. They said that the only thing that they had open was Goofy's Candy party. So I would guess that you should probably book more than 2 month ahead of time. I waited too long.

That's a shame. I wonder if they open up for reservations 180 days out or 90? And what the heck is a Goofy Candy party??

You can book this at 180 days out (1407-wdw-play). You pay when you check the kids in - there is a cc guarantee required and a $10pp fee for cancellations less than 24 hours and no shows. HTH! :)

Thank you!! I just realized my dining reservation window was coming up so I figured I needed to plan this as well (and the breakfast DH and I intend to go to while the kids are on the cruise). I just wanted to make sure I had money available on my debit card when I called if need be as we do not want to put any trip expenses on credit. Thanks so much!

You're welcome!!! I just saw in your signature line that you are expecting - congratulations and good luck! Have a wonderful trip! My kids were both about 3 months on their first trips to Disney...never too young :)

Thank you! You're too sweet! Baby will be about 4 months on the trip, the youngest we've taken a baby before was our twins at 14 months, so this will be new and interesting but in a way I think it will be easier than a toddler, lol!

The Pirates & Pals Fireworks Cruise runs from the Contemporary Hotel. You will need to make reservations.

We are doing it in April and I think there are select weeks that it runs during the week, otherwise it is Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Cost: $53.99 +tax for Adults and $$30.99+tax for children under 10 years.

You do receive snacks and drinks and have characters accompany (pirates like Smee) and then you see the Electric Water Pagent and Wishes from the boat...when you return to the dock, Peter Pan is waiting for a meet and greet.

It sounds cool and my dd8 will be doing the Pirates League makeover at the Magic Kingdom that afternoon.pirate:

This is the first time we have done a cruise for fireworks and such, but it sounds like fun!!!:woohoo:

That does sound like fun! I'd actually not heard of this before. The pirate cruise I was talking about is just for kids but this sounds neat too. Something else to think about :scratchin

Last year when we stayed at the GF, I gave dd8 the option to go on the Pirates Cruise. She didn't want to because parents do not go along. The Pirates & Pals Fireworks Cruise suits her much better and isn't horribly expensive.:thumbsup2

My kids are really independent and I think because there's three of them to go together they won't be too bothered by us not attending. I know this sounds kind of awful but we're going for 11 days and I think towards the end, a 2 hour break for everyone will be a nice distraction ;)

My daughter was thrilled with the idea of ditching us for a couple of hours! It was nice for us to get a little quiet time, too.

Is the Pirate Adventure at GF the only one they have now? Do they still have the one at BC?
We're going in August and I was thinking that my 2 "big" kids would enjoy this, too!!!

They still have the Albatross Cruise at the Yacht Club, as well as the one at POR, and one at (I think) CBR.

My daughter did the Albatross Cruise and loved it! She really liked being in the World Showcase before it opened.

Thank you! We're staying at BCV so I was really hoping the Albatross still exists!!!

Glad that someone else understands the time alone part. I was kind of afraid to post that for fear of being roasted alive but I do think that being together 24/7 for 11 days, it might be nice towards the end to have a little time apart.

That is neat that they get to go to the World Showcase before it opens. We're staying at the Contemporary this time so the one at the GF just makes more sense because it's so easy to just hop on the monorail to get there but I will have to keep this in mind for next time :thumbsup2

My kids did this at POR this past Sept. I was told they wouldnt be too old and that it would be fun for those up to around 12yrs. Well, I sent my 11 and 9 yr old and they had some fun, but were too od for it really. But, the cost was worth them having some time without parents, traveling around WDW with other kids and CMs. My DD still talks about it, but her highlight was being without mom and dad. We sent them with a disposable camera and their cell phones. We got some good pictures and they were only a call away if they needed us. I think this is great for those under 8.
