GF or YC concierge?

I am really torn between these 2 resorts for our next trip in May. I am at the planning stage and we last visited WDW in Nov.2001 and stayed at the GF and loved it. We want to try something new, but we know that we like the GF so are afraid to risk another resort we might not like. We would like to try YC concierge. It is myself, DH and DD 4yrs. We plan on taking at least 1 day to enjoy the resort and going to MK, Epcot, and MGM. How is the transportation to these parks from YC? Is the concierge worth the exrta $$$? I have an AP that we hope to use to get a discount on the room. I guess I just want to know if the YC is on the same level as the GF as far as appearance and service? Anyone here stay at both and can compare the two?

I have stayed at the GF 4 times (RPC once) other times standard lv rooms. and I stayed at the YC twice, both times concierge, I am booked to stay at the YC for a third time (concierge) in May!

I dont have too much experience w/GF concierge, but I can tell you that the YC is definately on par w/the GF as far as service!!! actually, imho the service at the YC is better, more personal, and has been much more attentive! the appearance of the YC is elegant and beautiful, it is kept up very well, as well as the GF. the only thing "Grander" at the GF is the drama of the lobby. the YC's lobby is absolutely gorgeous, elegant, and very well themed!

I wouldnt be concerned at all that the YC wouldnt live up to your expectations, I was a GF veteran, and the YC exceeded my expectations! the YC is my favorite resort now! the YC concierge is fantastic! the staff there is so nice, helpful, attentive, friendly...etc... the lounge offerings are great too! they have a very wide selection at breakfast, nice snacks during the day, wonderful evening selections, and yummy yummy desserts at night!!!! the concierge at the YC is in my experience awesome, and worth every penny!!!

the transportaion to Epcot, well you can walk to the international gateway in 5 minutes, or take the ferry, MGM you ca walk to in about 15 minutes, or take the ferry. the bus to MK has never been a problem for us, we usually wait 5-10 minutes and then it's only about 10-15 minutes to MK.

the grounds at the yC are very meticulously kept, as they are at the GF! also for your day at the resort, you can't beat the YC! storm a long bay is unbelievable! you and your family will love it! your DD will love the sand bottom kiddie section, and you will love the sand bottom, lazy river and hidden hottubs nestled in the rocks!!!
plus you have the BW right there! you can rent a surrey bike, play games, get an icecream cone at seashore sweets (or a sundae at beaches n cream!!!) or walk to the Swan/Dolphin to play mini golf!

I think the YC is a nice change, with a beautiful resort, awesome service, fantastic concierge, great location, lots going on right within walking distance!!!!

the GF is a beautiful resort, but the YC is right there with it, with many pluses on it's side!
and one thing I'm almost positive on is that you will get more personal and friendly service at the YC concierge!

WOW!!! Thanks princess angel!! You sold me on the YC concierge!! I booked it!! YEAH!!! Our dates are Wed May 1st -Wed. May 8th. We booked with AP rate at $365 per night that includes tax. It was actually a better rate than using the code that is available now. What great ideas you gave for our day at the resort, thanks. I'm so excited. This will be our first time at the YC and our first time on the concierge level. I'm afraid we might start getting really spoiled and like it so much we'll have to stay concierge all the time!! That of course wouldn't be a bad thing So when does someone contact me to help with my PS's and who would I need to talk to if I have a question about the elevators. See my other post, my DH will not go in an elevator, or a plane, so we are driving, again How and where are the concierge rooms and is there a better section to be in? Basicall should I call and add a request for a certain area? Thanks again for all your great info!

I am sooooooooo happy for you!!!! The YC concierge is incredible, you made the right choice, and yes, you most likely will become completely spoiled!!!!
it differs sometimes when they call you, sometimes they send info instead. I wouldnt wait for them to contact you, I'd call them first! sometimes they dont contact you til about 2 weeks before, and I know you must be bursting, ready to start planning! call the YC concierge! they will be more then happy to help you! Betty and Theresa are sooooo very nice! also Jennifer, and there was one guy who was super super helpful too, I think his name was Steve, or maybe Alex, sorry, I cant remember (he was a mgr I think). I would just ask them about the elevator question! (I did see your other post! I replied too!!!)
I see you have booked gv (same rate I got!) definately request lake side of the resort, this way you'll get a pretty view of either the courtyard or SAB!!
the courtyard view rooms are closer to the lounge, but the SAB rooms arent a very far walk to the lounge, just a minute longer. I stayed in both clusters, the rooms near the lounge are incredibly convenient!!!

we will be at the BWV from May 4-11th, and then we'll be over at the YC concierge from May 11-18th! maybe we'll see you around crescent lake!!! look for me, I am 28 yrs old, a liitle longer than shoulder length blonde hair, 5'3" tall and about 110lbs, dh is 6'1" tall, short blonde hair, huge shoulders, and about 225lbs. I usually have my black pooh backpack w/me, and I have lime green curly ribbons hanging from it!!!! please say hello if you see me, I'd love to hear how your stay at the YC is going!!!

YC concierge hands down. The CMs are exceptional. They strive to be the best concierge and succeed way above and beyond. I'm happy to call several of the YC concierge CMs "friend" and I still keep in touch with them. You won't get better service at WDW.

Princess Angel ....Thanks so much, you are such a sweetheart!! I will definately be on the look out for you. Look for me too, My hair is brown and also alittle longer than shoulder lenghth. I am also 5'3" and 110lbs!!! 26yrs. old and DH is 5'10' about 185lbs. brown hair, you know the actor Geoge Hamilton, from years ago? The guy with the black hair who is always tan? My DH looks just like him when George was younger, of course. Oh God I hope my DH doesn't read this! We will be with our DD who has brown hair down to her bottom, and is 4yrs old. You'll know us if you see a crazy lady running after her daughter around Cresent Lake!!! Her name is Destiny and I'll probably be screaming it!!LOL I will take your advice and give a call to the YC and thanks for the offer of help I appreciate that and might just have to take you up on it!
