I am having trouble deciding on which one to stay at for the wedding and to receive our complimentary night. I have always stayed at the Contemporary and love it, but I've heard the GF is nice. DF and I keep going back and forth, and I'm leaning towards the Contemporary but I thought I'd get some opinions. TIA! :goodvibes

I should also add in that one issue we are factoring in is getting from the Contemporary to the WP. I'm guessing we'd probably have to rent a limo just to get over there, which would then be an added cost we wouldn't have if we stayed at the GF. Help! :)

Have you thought about the POLY???

Out of the 2 I would pick GF...but I like the contemporary too...just think GF is more romantic.

We did consider the Poly but settled on GF or Contemporary b/c 1. we've been to the Contemporary and know we'll love staying there and 2. we think the GF is gorgeous and it's so close to the wedding and reception

We are just not sure that the GF is worth the extra money. The rooms (from what I've seen in a few pictures) don't seem very unique, where the Contemporary rooms open up to the inside of the hotel (we've always loved that :)) I'm just driving myself nuts going back and forth:confused: :sad2:

P.S. - Lynn, I am SO jealous that you're going to see the Little Mermaid on Broadway!!! I've been dying to see that for the longest time. The guy who plays Sebastien is awesome! (Titus Burgess, he was in Jersey Boys a while back and that's where we first noticed him; great voice) You'll def have to post and tell us how it was!

We stayed at the GF for our wedding and HM. We will never stay there agin. It was pretty and we were glad we stayed there the one time, but we really love the Epcot resorts like beach Club and BW.

I think the GF is overpriced (we knew that when booking it- no surprise there) but we had always wanted to stay there and could never justify spending the money there for any other occasion BUT our wedding.

So that said- if you really want to stay there at least once, I would recc it for your HM. You can stay at the CR any other time ya know?

We were upgraded to a room with a king bed in Sago Cay. We had aice view large balcony, and a nice sitting area so our room was decent.

Thank you!!!:goodvibes You are so right and I'm going to talk to DF about it tonight using your logic :)

UM...GF all the way! you can check cout any of my TR's to see how FABULOUS it is. and it will be So convient for your wedding. it is WAY more romantic than the contemporary and teh staff is fabulous! congrats and good luck choosing!

GF all the way!! We stayed there for our wedding and would't change for anything. The rooms are much more romantic than the contemporary as is the setting. DH and I love sitting in the lobby and taking in the relaxation. It's the opposite vibe of CR, just what you need the week of your wedding and honeymoon.

BTW - I think either way you'll wnat transportation to the WP - our planner highly recommended, but DH refused. I was off site getting ready but left his pickup on the limo schedule anyway - the day of he realized that's way too far to walk in a tux and he took the ride! It's at least a 5 minute walk which is pretty far in your wedding attire depending on the weather!

I would say the GF. Most of our guests stayed there too, and walked to the WP for the ceremony. Are you taking pictures at the GF? You will most likely end up going to the GF anyways. Also, I don't know where your reception is going to be, but ours was at the GF too and the guest walked there also. It was great.

I want to thank you all for your input! Although I totally agree about the GF, we decided to go w/ the CR. The decision was unfortunately based on money. We just couldn't book our room block there at $572/night (the price DFTW has quoted me). We figured our guests would have a better chance at staying at a deluxe resort if we chose the CR at $388. Thanks again for all of your help and happy new year!!

I guess I'm holiday b/c our wedding date is 12/20/09. I'm starting to regret choosing a Christmas wedding!:santa:

We are staying at the Contemporary for our comp night, but if you stay there frequently then it might not be so special.

I have stayed at the GF before and was quite unimpressed to be honest, the resort is lovely but I didn't think much of the room at all. It was nice but nothing special, I found it over the top floral print and really "chintsy". This is obviously fine if you like that type of stuff but I didn't and for the price, I'd rather spend my money else where.

You could always use the monorail to travel between the resorts, if you're in your Wedding attire they'll let you rid up front for sure!!!!

That's what I said I would love to do! :rotfl: When I told my mom that, she looked at me like I was nuts...I think it would be awesome!:thumbsup2

yeah...holiday rates start the 18th..that does make a HUGE difference. value season is 400 a night rack rate at the GF

wow...thats outragous!!!!!!!!

Ok, my vote is deinately w/ CR. We stayed at GF for the first half of our honeymoon and will likely never stay there again...nothing special for the price and quite frankly, the monorail is a hectic way of getting around. We MUCH prefer the convenience of the Epcot area resorts where you can just walk to the parks. Of course we had a cruddy view and a tiny room with no 'pixie dust' upon check in.

The price you were quoted though it OUTRAGOUS!!! We stayed at GF from 12/16 - 12/21 of this year and paid under $300 per night!!! AFTER tax it was still under $300!! Did you book it through your wedding??? Thats how we got a good rate. Wow..im just in shock at the price you were quoted. We stayed there during the 'Holiday' season and ours was half that.

Anyhoo....def a good choice with CR! It would have been our choice if we could go back and do it all again! :thumbsup2

I know. I was upset when I got the price list. That's the price given to me by my coordinator. :confused3 I'm not impressed with the value resort prices either: $122. We've paid like $60 for a value resort during the holiday season so that kind of upset me. :sad2:
