I am hoping my fellow DVC'rs can help...I am getting married in July and would like to honeymoon at GF conceirge-do you all think I should use points or pay cash? Have any of you stayed there? Do you think that is the best choice at WDW for a honeymoon? I called member services today and was told I could buy the DP if I stayed there, however, I think that contradicts what I have read here. HELP!!! :confused3

You didn't say when you are getting married, but it is almost always cheaper to stay on cash than on points. So if you have the cash, use that, but if you are flush with points, and you are aware that you are paying a premium price for that room on points, then go ahead and use the points. I have stayed at GF before, and it is a lovely(I even took a nap in their lobby once, and the maid fluffed my pillow while I slept) :lmao:

I Definitely recommend the GF for your honeymoon. Its a beautiful place, you are right on the monorail, the views of the MK are fantastic if you secure a lagoon view room in the right building (most honeymooners are very well taken care of there). Concierge is great, you will be spoiled. The GF or the Poly, the 2 best spots for honeymooners at Disney IMO.

The previous poster said it well, if you arent gonna use your points otherwise, you might as well use them here. Another alternative would be to rent your points, and use the proceeds to help pay cash for the GF (you would probably pay less overall this way in the end).

My husband and I stayed at GF for our Honeymoon 7 years ago. It was the most magical way to spend a Honeymoon. We just bought SSR and looking at the points chart for GF, I would also agree with the previous replies, if you have plenty of points, use them up!..... if you dont, I would go cash.

We booked the GF concierge over labor day weekend this past year. We were upgraded to one of the Honeymoon Suites. It is in a private secluded area on the second floor that can only be accessed by the people on that floor.

The view of the MK and Cinderellas Castle at night were worth the points alone. We also really enjoyed the concierge amenities, the fact that you have someone just a phone call away to book anything you want. In addition, it was so nice to stop in the concierge lobby for refreshments between outings.

So in conclusion whether you decide to stay on points or cash I highly recommend the GF. The AK concierge is also very nice, but for a honeymoon I would definetly go with the GF. :thumbsup2

We honeymooned at the GF Concierge over 9 years ago and I would DEFINITELY recommend it! However, I think you would do better paying cash than using points. It may be worth investing in an AP if discounts are available.

There are actually two types of honeymoon rooms available (assuming things haven't changed since our honeymoon). We were in one of the rooms you described which was great as they don't let families with kids stay on this floor so it was VERY quiet. The view from our balcony overlooked the dock and we had a perfect view of the castle for the fireworks. We would get dessert and cordials from the concierge lounge and enjoy them from our balcony while watching the fireworks. These rooms, however, are just like normal hotel rooms.

There are also honeymoon rooms that are in the turrets and feature more windows and more room, but do not have a balcony.

We requested a 2nd floor room for the balcony since DH was a smoker (quit 15 months ago), but we were able to check-out one of the turret rooms one afternoon and I had wished SO much to have stayed in one of those, but it wasn't fair to inconvenience DH on our honeymoon and not have a balcony. We will most definitely though for a future anniversary!

We paid $650 a night for a honeymoon suite there about 10 years ago. I would say stay away from the honeymoon suites and just get a concierge room. Like someone already said the honeymoon suite has no balcony, a very big tub but that is about it. You will get more bang for your buck with the concierge room plus I would pay cash, not points.

If you stay at the GF on points, you cannot add the Dining Plan.

If you pay cash for the GF, you can add the Dining Plan to a room & ticket package. IIRC, there is a 3 night minimum to get a package.

Best wishes -

Thanks for the tips, I will look into a concerige room for cash-I have an annual pass FH doesn't can I still get dining package for us both or do you think I should stick with DDE? We used that on our last trip as we couldn't get the DP when staying on points.
