We are sailing on the Dream in July and have a port arrival time of noon. DD has Celiac so needs a gluten free lunch. Does anyone know what our GF options are for lunch after boarding?

We did a back to back on the Dream in February and went to the Enchanted Garden for lunch. They ask for your room number before they seat you and my DH's gluten allergy was noted on our reservation so they called a manager over who walked my husband through the buffet and explained what he could have. After he told her what he wanted, she had his plate prepared in the kitchen to avoid any cross contamination. I don't remember everything he had to choose from, but he ended up having some shrimp, roast beef, mashed potatoes, veggies, and gluten free rolls. They also brought out some gluten free cookies for dessert. There was also a salad bar, fruit, cheese and cold cuts (not sure if the cold cuts were gluten free or not).

They have gluten free chicken fingers and fries at Mater's on the pool deck, but when you order them they have to call the manager over to approve it so it takes some time. I think there was also gluten free pizza there as well but he never ordered that.

Yes you can have it recorded on your reservation beforehand and when you get to lunch they should know and be able to guide you. They will be able to do this regardless as they have many guests with special requirements.

(I did a galley tour last cruise and they have all the tickets pinned up with allergies and what that guest could and couldn't eat).

DW is GF. At the MDRs (which I prefer for both breakfast and lunch) they were aware of it (as described above) and were pretty good about finding or making GF dishes for her. On our latest cruise they had some GF muffins that she loved so made sure they were available in the mornings. At Cabanas she asked someone if something was GF and a chef came out and took her through the entire line telling her what she could or couldn't have.

Near the end of dinner, our servers would give DW the menu for the next evening. She would choose what she wanted, including side dishes, and the kitchen would prepare it for her the next evening. Sure enough, when I did the galley tour I saw her ticket posted at the seafood preparation table.

FYI, DW was able to get GF French Toast for breakfast in the MDR. She liked it a lot and ordered it about every other day. I tried a bite and found it pretty good.

We are trying to figure out what ship to go on next because after our experience on the Wonder 5 weeks ago, that is a no-go. Looks like the Dream is a good option. We have a 25% off coupon to use and it can be combined with our 10% off coupon AND our military discount, so we definitely want to take advantage :) but are a little nervous after our recent dining hell on the high seas for 15 days.

are GF buns readily available at the quick service places that sell hotdogs on the wonder?

We were never offered GF buns in May 2015. We ate hot dogs and hamburgers without them. It was the Panama Canal Cruise, so they may have had different foods. The "Hamburger bun" in the MDR was the same dinner rolls they served. Hard and tough...not like the ones at Disney Parks made by Gluten Not Included Bakery. I ended up getting a "lettuce wrap" which, really ended up being a piece of lettuce, a patty and topping on my plate the next time I ordered a MDR burger. So it was more like a salad. No wrapping it up. The lettuce at Pluto's Dog House was shredded, so no lettuce wrapping there either (I specifically asked for whole lettuce pieces). The hot dogs were always given to us without a bun. But the fries were good :)

fries instead of buns... i think we can live with that ;)

Thanks for your replies everyone! I was just diagnosed with Chrohn's disease about a year ago, and have recently found out that gluten was causing a good portion of my issues. I'm still trying to get used to asking the right questions about food, and I hadn't even thought about lunch that first day. Thanks again for the info. everyone! :yay:

One of my favorite burger dishes at a local burger place is a burger salad...all the regular salad stuff with a cheeseburger crumbled on top! Yummy!
