Can someone please explain the difference between these 2 room types to me? I am assuming that the one has concierge services and the other does not. Are they located in the same building or does lodge just mean a location other than the main building? If they are not the same building, is one better than the other as far as view and location? Are the rooms the same size? I am trying to decide which to book and I would appreciate any advice or comments. Thanks!

The Lodge Tower rooms are standard rooms with an added octagon shaped sitting area. They are located in Sago Cay, Conch Key, Boca Chica, and Big Pine Key, floors 2-5. The Lodge Concierge rooms are in the Sugar Loaf Building. These rooms feature all amenities of the Main Building Concierge, with the exception of wine and cordials.

There are also lodge tower rooms available in lodge concierge, but they can't be specifically reserved. There's no extra cost over and above the regular lodge concierge price, but they can only be requested and not guaranteed (whereas a regular lodge tower room will cost more than a regular lodge room, but it is guaranteed).

Hope this helps

Hey Jenn9,

I stayed in the main building this past March (room 4402), and my sis and her family stayed in Sugar Loaf. IMHO, the price difference (about $100 per night) wasn't worth staying in the main building. The concierge food was exactly the same at every meal and the concierge service was exactly the same. The only difference was the view: my DW and DD5 stood on the balcony to watch the evening fireworks every night, while my sis took a walk outside.

If I ever stayed at the GF again, and I'm not convinced it's worth the cost, I'd probably stay Sugar Loaf.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Len

We've stayed in Sugar Loaf twice with rooms on the marina side and could see the fireworks very well from our balconies...sideways view but great.

As California Dreaming noted Sugar Loaf doesn't serve wine or cordials....or evening desserts.

BCV23,

I wasn't aware that Sugar Loaf does not serve wine or cordials or evening desserts. I specifically checked these items in March, and the offerings at each meal were exactly the same. Same items. Same (approximate) quantities. Same times of the day. I saw no difference whatsoever. Perhaps this has changed recently?

Well, you've been there more recently then. We were there for 8 night stays the last two holiday seasons. From what I've read on the WDW site, from these boards and from our experience, no wine , cordials or desserts at Sugar Loaf. I wonder when they changed? A change for the better.:D

I remember cookies and brownies during tea time along with scones, etc.. They may have left cookies out with the appetizers from 5-7. But when we were there everything was cleared away by 7, I think. I think the changes sound great!

The added evening features at SL would certainly be great news if true. This is the first report of this I've seen, and was hoping they might do this before our trip to SL in September.

Another point on lodge vs. lodge tower is that the lodge tower rooms only accomodate 4 vs. 5 for the standard lodge rooms.
