Hi-
I first want to thank you for all of your amazing ideas, opinions etc on this board. It all helped in my planning! Here is my situation:

Going end of April with husband and our 18 month old son.

We are currently booked in GF Lodge Concierge for 3 nights. I would love to have a MK View, but no luck with that in Sugar Loaf Building.
I am thinking of switching to Poly Concierge so we can see MK fireworks, electric parade - (and those rooms on the bottom floor where you can walk right out to the beach sound GREAT).

If you say to stay in GF please let me know what rooms are best in Sugar Loaf.

If you say to stay at Poly where in your opinion are the best buildings/rooms with MKview ground floor on the beach?

Anyother ideas are welcome too!

I thank you all in advance for any opinions you have - and i know there are a lot out there so bring them on!
:D
Can't wait to go to DISNEY!!!

We've stayed at both, love both, but our vote goes to the Polynesian concierge except for Christmas when the Victorian theming at the GF is hard to beat...at least for us.

Breakfast is pretty much the same at both spots except at the Poly you can look out at the lake, beach and MK while you eat.:D

The appetizers from 5-7 at the Poly are much better on balance I think although we each had a favorite ot two at the GF.

At the Poly you can also enjoy a glass of wine with your appetizers or a cordial with desserts in the evening. No desserts, cordials or wine at Sugar Loaf.

The rooms are very pretty at the GF but seem the rooms seem larger to us at the Poly.

At the poly both pools are right by the concierge building. At the GF, the new pool and the beach are a little bit of a hike.

Transportation at the Poly is the best in WDW in our book.

Most importantly, if you book a lagoon view at the Poly, you're gazing at the beach, the lake and the MK!:D

Oops I forgot your question about room views at the GF. In Sugar Loaf the choices are toward the courtyard or the marina. We've had marina view both times and prefer that. We could see the fireworks very well although you can't see the castle at all.

Whichever you pick, have a wonderful trip!

For the best view IMHO at the Poly is the Tahiti, ground floor. We prefer the rooms on the TCC side of the longhouse by the door. Unobsructed views of the castle and space mountain, theres a hammock and chairs right outside your doors. The ducks in the morning are a riot!

we stayed in the poly conc. in november. it was awsome! we were on the 1st floor with a lagoon view. opening the patio doors and walking right out to the beach was great. every night we would watch the lights on the castle change colors. on our 1st morning we opened our drapes and a couple was getting married on a hill right outside our window. evidently we weren't the only ones who thought our view was picture perfect. we going back in may hope to get ground floor again!

Any thougts on the rooms in the Hawaii Building - does anyone find them "tired and old"?

Thank you to all who have responded so far!!

THE HAWAII GETS A FACE LIFT STARTING IN JUNE. I DON'T KNOW IF THEY PUT SOMETHING IN THE WATER OR WHAT BUT TOTAL ATMOSPHERE OF THE POLY GIVES ME ROSE COLORED VISION.
THE SQUEAKY FLOOR OR WEAK HAIR DRYER JUST DOESN'T ENTER INTO THE OVERALL PICTURE OF THE POLYNESIAN PARADISE!

GF-Sugarloaf. Definitely take a Marina view, much quieter. Also if you can get a room on an upper floor with a door that does not open onto the main hall you'll avoid noise from the Concierge lounge below. I wish we could remember our number, but we never heard anything from either the hall or the rooms next door.
One thing, I mentioned to the concierge pre-planning that we had a newly turned 1 year old who still cries that wonderful piercing baby scream. Told them that we would not object if they put us someplace out of the way for the other guests convience. They did just that. BTW he never cried during our stay-too exhausted

The rooms in Hawaii are in beautiful condition...they refurbished them a couple of years ago I believe.

I've never stayed at the Poly concierge, so I can't comment on whether or not you should change, but I have stayed at GF lodge concierge.

We stayed with my (then) 3yo and 15mo old and found the lounge offerings and drinks really good. The staff offered to get us milk for the babies bottle (she said the stuff in the jugs is sometimes out a little while, so to ask for fresh cold milk), and were very helpful. We had a marina view room on the ground floor. I didn't notice any noise from the lounge- the room was right at the end of the corridor leading off the lounge. We found the location ideal, as you could pop up and down for drinks and snacks, and didn't need to wait for elevators with your stroller. The rooms are nice and spacious.

Quick thread hijack question- does anyone know if it's possible to get sodas or bottled water from lodge concierge?. I never noticed it last time (there were large bottles of mineral water and jugs of lemonade, but no sodas).

When we were at Sugar Loaf in January they had soda in the back. They would bring it out in for you only if you asked for it. We gave up an raided the mini-bar after a few days.

Thanks deb- I'm not a big soda drinker but dh is, so this will be good news. I'm also trying to justify the price of concierge and he drinks a lot of soda, so this will help (it all adds up).

The issue of water and soda pop brings up another advantage of Poly over GF concierge. At the Polynesian they have a large container full of ice that is stocked with water bottles and pop. At Sugar Loaf such a barrel would probably look out of place but they could do something to make it readily available. We never asked for any because the CMs are usually busy. We did love Sugar Loaf too and plan to go back but there is sure more bang for your buck at the Polynesian IMHO.
