GF Lagoon View Building Requests

Hello, I am planning my family's next trip to Disney and our first to the Grand Floridian. My daughter (6) is begging to return to the Polynesian concierge because of our perfect castle view, but I want to try the GF. (my husband will go along with anything).
So, after reading all of the pages here, plus info. on other sites, I am conflicted about what building to request to get the best chance of an unobstructed castle view. I have booked a Lagoon View. I thought that I should request Boca Chica, but now after reading the GF FAQ and other sites info., I am questioning which building since there are conflicting reports about what would offer the best chance of receiving a lagoon view. The names of the other buildings escape me as I am writing this post--Sago Cay maybe .

Part B of the question is that my parents are traveling with us and have requested a garden view. They will request whatever building we do, so that they are in close proximity. So, what type of view will they expect from the garden side of the best lagoon view building (part A). (does that make sense?)
Ok, one more thing if I may. I have seen the maps that are linked on this site that show the layout of the buildings within the resort, but what direction on that map exactly is the castle?
I am always amazed at the amount of knowledge and information offered on these boards. Thank you so much for your help.

Hi NovDis, I saw this post on the GF FAQ thread this morning. I think you had a response from Minniesota, so you might want to take a look there. I agree with what she said, that Sago Cay would be a good choice and to have your parents request a marina view in that building (the same price as a garden).

HI Tammi, I had checked over there before I posted here, but somehow I missed MinnieSota's reply. I must be losing it! Thank you for your comments, as well. I am going to change my request to Sago Cay.

I am thinking about a possible trip to in early December, and staying at the Grand Floridian.

The link below will show you an overview of the Disney Properties.

This link will show you a map of the Grand Floridian.

To me, it looks like the Castle in MK would be towards the top of the Grand Floridian map, in the direction of the arrow to the left of the Monorail line. It might be more accurate to say that if you placed a clock over the Grand Floridian map, and 12 was straight up, then the Castle in MK might be around the 1 on the clock.

This is just my observations off of the map, so hopefully, I am not misleading you.

An additional note:
I had originally booked a LV at the GF. However after talking with my wife, we decided to save a little money and change our reservations to a GV.
In addition to saving a little money, I feel that I am also taking the pressure off of myself in regards to a LV.
I have requested specific views before at other hotels, and have received them, but they didn't live up to my expectations. I know that for myself, if I spend ~ $400 more for 5 nights, for a LV, and do not get a great view of the Castle, I would be very disappointed.
I know that it is possible to request and then receive a room with a great view at the GF for our upcoming visit, but it just feels that for this visit, it would add too much to my stress level.
I am also planning on asking, at the time of my arrival, if they have a great GV, or even upgrade us to a great LV. If they don't (which I expect), there is nothing lost. If they do… well that really would be magical.

Thank you, Ray Ring. I had been thinking that the MK was more like 2:00 to use your clock reference. This is probably why I am confused about the buildings. I think from your reponse and the others, that 1:00 is more accurate.
You have a good point about the LV verses GV. But, with my daughter, the castle view is so up there on her list, that I am going to do whatever I can to increase the chances, so I will probably stick with the LV. I figure that once we get there, if the view is not of the castle, it will still be OK because of all of the other wonderful things happening. If we get the view, we will be even more thrilled.
Thanks again. Have a great trip.
