Hi! We have so far booked a standard room for our wedding but we would like to upgrade. I have heard about the dormer and they sound great, but what are they classified as? Lagoon room rates or higher?
And more info on them would be much appriciated! Thanks in advance!

I believe there are LV dormer rooms and also GV dormer rooms. Basically they are just the rooms on the top floor of whichever building you're in. They have a little less square footage, but high ceilings. The rate is the same as the lower floors, but you can only request these rooms they aren't guaranteed.

There is also a tower room, you might be thinking of that. They are actually a different room catergory so you are guaranteed that type of room. They do cost extra though because you get an extra sitting room. :)

If I were you I'd upgrade to LV and request Conch Key. :) Or if you really want to go all out, upgrade to the main building RPC and request the castle view honeymoon room. :) It's awesome because the honeymoon rooms are all in a separate hallway and away from kids and families. :)

There are dormer rooms in the following categories:
  • Garden (Standard) View Room
  • Lagoon View Room
  • Lodge Concierge (Sugar Loaf) Room

Just make a request for a dormer room with any of these categories. :)

But it's only a "request" isn't it Cali-D? They can't guarantee or book a dormer room, right??

Yes, as with most things, the dormer rooms are on a request basis only. They cannot be guaranteed; however, it has to be in the system somehow to only allow so many parties of 5, my guess is someday they will make it a seperate category because it probably becomes a nightmare assigning rooms without the daybed.

We got a LV dormer room on the 5th floor of Boca Chica w/ views from the Poly to the right to MK and Cindy's castle to the left, esp. great for watching the sun rise over Bay Lake as well as the EWP and MK fireworks after dusk! Absolutely a wonderful room!

If you really want to get one, my advice besides adding the request to your ressie would be to try and check in early, say, around 10:30 am, and ask if they can find you a good view in a dormer room. You'll likely have to leave your luggage in storage w/ bell svcs until your room is actually ready (lots to do right around the resort: watermice and other boats, spa, two golf courses, tennis, etc.). It worked for us and we thought it was an incredible (and lucky) addition to the magic!

I was peeking over the desk last week when we were there. I saw different columns for room categories, but I wasn't wanting to get busted looking. So I couldn't make out all the categories. I did see different categories with 'N's in them. I'm assuming that was to note what room categories we were eligible for.

I did notice that the reservation system is still run a text based system instead of the nice windows based system used by the restaurants.
