GF direct now or wait till GF2

Hey looking for general advice. We have just returned from an amazing 3 weeks using our DVC points for the first time. We have now got addonitis and wanting to get more GF points. We current have a small 50 and probably only need another 30-50 points. We have contacted our guide to tell us when any points are available (added to wait list) as well as reach out to resale sites.

My question is do I pull the trigger if direct come available now or do I hold out for GF2?

Direct is $255 but I saw on other thread of guesstimates that it could be much lower.

Resale is going to be cheaper but unlikely that my use year any and a small point contract will come up.

Any advice would be great

To be honest,I don’t think you will be able to buy direct until the new point sales begin.

So, I would just wait until that happens If they are lower as some of us are guessing, the resale market will also go lower.

Buy as soon as you can. Prices will only go up.

At $255 per point pre-pandemic, VGF was only selling about 2200 points per month.

VGF2 is going to have to sell closer to 100,000 points per month to be considered successful.

You can’t compare a sold out resort price to a actively sold resort price.

Think of it this way. Disney could price at $250, sell maybe 20,000 points a month, and make $60M in the first year, or they could price at $210, sell 100,000 points a month, and make $252M in the first year. Which would you prefer if you were in charge?

It’s highly likely the prices will be lower than $255 when VGF2 goes on sale, so I would wait. Of course on a 30-50 point contract the total dollar amount difference is not huge.

My guess is anywhere March to May. They have to declare units before they can even begin selling. That has not yet happened.

Once that does, we should have a better estimate as to when it might happen. The price for RIV is going to $207/pt on February 3rd so some of us are speculating that VGF new price will come out shortly after that and be close to that as a start, even if it gets there via incentives.

There's a few dozen pages of people betting. DVC stopped selling VGF direct months ago, we haven't even heard reports of people being able to buy. DVC continues to foreclose and such, so it isn't like they have zero points. They are sitting on them for pricing.

They have 50 points. I would call a guide and ask. Worst case scenario, they say no.

I'd call now if ever you have an upcoming UY. Get the free 2021 points and have them banked into 2022.

We have 140 points at AKL and 50 at GF.
our twins are under 3 and was able to all fit in a value studio at Jambo. We then had 5 days in GF (using some banked points we got when buying the contract). We fell in love with the resort and in order to go for around 2 weeks every 2 years we need around another 50 points.

We bought SSR and had a ton of points from resale purchase in the first year so we splurged on a 2br at VGF. Needless to say within a year, we also now own VGF - I loved that resort as well!

I don’t know exactly how it works but I would think if you’re buying points deeded to the new building, you wouldn’t get points until the UY in which that property opens?

Yes, that is why I don’t think they will be selling any points until the new building goes on sale and that any sold, will be held until the new rooms are available for use.

If not, then they I’ll be selling ”old points” and “new points” which would be a nightmare.
