Hey all,

I've started having second thoughts regarding my preference at the GF. I had requested the octagon style honeymoon room. But now I'm thinking about requesting the 2nd floor rooms with the jacuzzi/balcony/MK view. I'm stuck. If it helps, we're also spending 4 nights at the Poly LV Concierge after our 3-day DCL trip in addition to the 4 nights at GF. Please help! :scratchin

If I could afford a honeymoon room at GF, I would want the one that looks at the Castle! No doubt about it! :)

Not sure which one it is, but I can't think of a better honeymoon view!

We actually ended up staying in both types of honeymoon rooms at the GF (our comp night was in a castle view honeymoon room and the rest of our stay was in an octagon turret room). We strongly preferred the turret room. Though a view of the castle is indeed a fantastic perk, the rest of the castle view room was not all that different from a regular room at the GF. The only differences were that it had a small sitting area with a loveseat, coffee table, and two chairs on one side of the room (probably where the other queen bed goes in a regular GF room). It also had a tub with jacuzzi jets, but it was VERY small (probably about the size of a regular tub, just with jacuzzi jets). We did have a view of the castle, which was very nice though.

Our turret room did not have a castle view, but you could see the Wedding Pavilion from just one of the windows. It's my understanding that a couple of these turret rooms do have castle views, but I'm not 100% positive which ones. The room itself was quite large though. The sitting area was large, and the walk-in closet was HUGE. The tub was not jacuzzi style, but the extra space was something we really enjoyed. There is also a wetbar area in these rooms. We also liked having all the windows, even though our particular room didn't have the very best view (you could see the monorail though--we liked that a lot).

Unfortunately I didn't have time to take pictures of the honeymoon castle view room, but I do have some of the turret honeymoon room. Just click the link below to see them:

Wow! I am impressed. If you don't mind me asking, how much does a room like this cost? Does every resort have a honeymoon suite? How do you get one-just call and ask? I assume you have to make reservations early for one of those?
Sorry, I know that is a lot of questions. ::yes::

AFAIK, the only resorts with "honeymoon" rooms are GF and WL. Neither are actually suites, they have just been designated as honeymoon rooms. Generally, they are slightly bigger than the standard concierge rooms. You can easily call the CRO and ask about them. For more info, do a search for the Grand Floridian FAQ and the Wilderness Lodge FAQ.

Oh, BTW, great pics of the turret room. I figured I'll probably get an MK view from my stay in the Poly, so I might as well go for the turret room in the GF. Thanks.

You're very welcome--I'm glad to be of help. :)

Well, DH and I stayed in one of the MK view GF Honeymoon concierge rooms for our Honeymoon night. I actually stayed there the night before the wedding as well because our ceremony was a noon in the wedding pavilion. Although the view was wonderful, our room (Room 4209) was adjacent to a service elevator that ran all night long. It was EXTREMELY loud and kept me up the entire night before the wedding and kept us both up on our Honeymoon night. It was so bad that DH called the front desk after midnight asking for a room change, but they didn't have anything available. So, if you can book a turret room, I would definitely do it. (Although, I requested a turret room but they put me in the room just described.)

I hope that helps and congrats on your upcoming wedding!:bounce:

Sorry I'm late answering this question, but absolutely positively stick with the octagon (turret) room request. We requested one of the jacuzzi rooms and got it (I think it was 2208 or 2209) and as soon as we walked in to it, we hated it. Well, I take that back. We were very impressed with the appointments of the Grand Floridian Hotel, but we absolutely regretted requesting that room over an octagon room because of the room size. It really is just a king room--no larger. The tub is just a standard size hotel tub with jets--not a Jacuzzi tub (and not to sound pretentious, but those who know the difference know what I'm talking about). Fitting the two of us in that tub was both comical and uncomfortable, but we did it anyway! Oh, and what Sally mentioned about the service elevator noise in that wing of the main building--absolutely true! I woke up often to that noise.

We really would have appreciated the extra space which is inherent to the octagon rooms. Although the view from our balcony in the jacuzzi room was indeed spectacular, we could have easily gone out to the courtyard for the same view of the fireworks etc.

Thanks for the link to your honeymoon room photos!
We stayed in Room 4330 for our honeymoon about 8 years ago. That was before renovations and the room looks very different now though. We hope to return to the same room for our 10 year anniversary!
