Hi, I am JJ and this is my first post..

My family is planning to return to Disney in September.. we are pulling the kids out of school for a week and its gonna be a huge surprise.. We are celebrating my sons 11th birthday and my dh and I's 14 yr anniversary and my DD 8th birthday while there..

we stayed last yr at the GF in the main bldg on club level.. we loved the breakfast as we are morning people..and my dh loved the Yuingling beer that they offered as we are in KY and you cant get it here.. to us the CL was well worth it and the kids had plenty of snacks.. my dd loved hearing the band play at night and would often go out and dance in the hall way to the music.. so i am working on my game plan for this trip and was quoted from magic for less a huge difference in price for cl in sugarloaf and main bldg.. is one better than the other?

we also looked into Comtempoary CL and wondered what it was like...

thanks a mil

:welcome: to the DIS!

What a wonderful trip you have planned! So many celebrations, I'm sure it will be fun.

There are two club levels at the GF, one in the main bldg. as you know, and the other in the outer building called Sugar Loaf. The only real difference between the two is location and ambiance. They both have the same food offerings, itinerary planning services, room amenities and even share some of the same cast members.

With Royal Palm Club in the main bldg. you have access to the monorail without going outdoors, and you are an elevator ride away from nearly all the shops and restaurants (only Gasparilla's Grill & Games and Narcoossee's are not inside). You can see and hear the lobby and evening music, as you mentioned, and the lounge is larger and more spread out.

Sugar Loaf is less costly as it is located in an outer building. You have to walk to the main bldg. for shopping and dining, and to board the monorail, though it is a short 2-3 minutes walk. The lounge area is on the first floor, and has a more laid back feel. Very convenient to the courtyard pool! There are some photos on the first page of the GF FAQ, if you would like to take a look - scroll down to post #3: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2718331

Loved GF RPC in the main building. Sugar Loaf club not so much. The CMs in the main building club level were very helpful.

We did not like the Contemporary club level at all. The CMs were not friendly. The food was blah.

The BWI has an excellent club level with wonderful CMs.

I haven't stayed RPC, which I've heard great things about, but I have stayed in Sugar Loaf and I wasn't wowed. The food offerings for breakfast and afternoon tea were very nice but I didn't like the evening offerings much at all (things didn't seem to be at the right temp. was one issue, and the things I tried just didn't taste great). But the big issue for me was the attitude/service from the CMs - I didn't find them to be very friendly or helpful. Got a bit of a "you're bothering me" vibe the few times we went to ask for something.
