I wasn't sure where to post this question, but since it is about food, I thought I would try here....

How is the gingerbread that they sell at the GF Gingerbread house during the holidays? Is it crunchy? Soft? Good? Not so good?

Also how much money (average) do the shingles cost?

Can you use DDP snack credit to purchase them?

Thanks!:goodvibes

We got the shingles one year. They were terrible. No one wanted them. I think I practically spit it out.

I would get anything but that. I dont know what they have this year, but we will be there Nov. 30th and I hope they have some good stuff to buy. I saw another poster post pictures of the gingerbread people with green on red sprinkles. We will probably try that instead.

Thank you! I wonder if all of the gingerbread tastes the same or if they use a different recipe for the other gingerbread products?

I don't know how tasty the gingerbread is, since I don't care for it. DH and the kids seemed to enjoy it though. I really liked the peppermint bark though. ;)

The price list I have is from 2009, but it lists the shingles as $7 for a 2.8 oz shingle.

According to the price list, it varies. The shingles and the signature gingerbread house, at least in 09, were "made from a classic "gingerbread" lebkuchen recipe." The cookies are not marked that they are from that recipe. The cookies were $4.

I agree. I paid a fortune for a few shingles and yuck.....total waste of money..avoid.They taste like you could make a house out of them.

Maybe someone else can answer this, but I think I read that the gingerbread at BC is different than the GF recipe? We are staying at BC but eating lunch at GF, so we will have all the bases covered no matter what.

I am also going to look for the gingerbread mickey with chocolate dipped ears? I think they had that before somewhere. I know the other year I tried to buy some gingerbread mix that had the cutout attached, but it was sold out etc. People were looking on e bay for it. It would be great if they had something like that in the holiday merchandise. I think it sold out at mk and I was looking at mousegears in epcot when we were there. That was not a disney recipe per say but made a nice gift.

If you look at the famous Nikkis food report reviews I think last year she did a whole bunch of pictures from the GF gingerbread house as to what you could buy. Lots of chocolate too for sure.

They sell those delightful Mickey Gingerbread Cookies with the choco dipped ears year round. They are SOOOO yummy! But they are tough to find. When we went in Dec. they were sold out everywhere - we finally found them at Goofy's Candy Co @ DTD. When they do have them, you can find them at the Candy Cauldron place in DHS and the candy store on Main St @ MK - they also used to have them in Germany, but with the new caramel shop, not sure if they will still be there.
We also had a very hard time finding the Minnie Bake Shop Gingerbread Mix with the cookie cutter attached. After searching everywhere - we finally asked a CM at MouseGears, who found us 2 packages in the back. I can tell you that I made them when we got home and the mix is just as yummy as the ones they sell (course i had to dip the ears in chocolate;)).
