We are planning on a trip to Disney but my son is on a gf/cf diet. I don't know whether or not to book a regular room and buy the meal plan or get a condo with a kitchen where I can cook. Is is possible to eat all meals gf/cf or do we need to book a room with a kitchen? Thanks for your help!!

Check the FAQs as there is a ton of info on celiac, gluten and cassein free trips. It is very possible to get most meals allergen free as well as other specialty diets such as vegan, pureed, no salt, diabetic, religious, and medical.

Definitely they will make kid friendly meals for your child that will be allergen free. If you think the Dining Plan is for you then by all means go ahead and use it.

We were on the dining plan, with DS who is gf/cf and a bunch of other "f"s too.

I did bring breakfast to eat in the room, and snacks for him. Just packed them in our luggage. A bag of gf/cf pretzels, a box of cereal, that sort of thing.

But we had the "regular" meal plan. And we had no problem with the food allergies, everyone was great and he ate well. Read the FAQ and email Brenda and tell them when you make the reservations.

Hi and :welcome: to DisBoards and disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post #3 is broken into many categories. One of them has to do with dietary restrictions and includes reports from people with restrictions on how they did at WDW. You might want to look their first.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

And many people have said their trip to WDW was the first time they were able to go on a vacation and not have to cook. All the Disney owned food service locations will be able to accomodate special diets. This includes both table service and quick service (and even some of the carts).

Coming out of Lurker mode -

I have been to Disney World over 100 times-
BUT I have never been with a food allergy- I can no longer eat Wheat/ Gluten

After reading many posts I contacted Brenda Bennett last month after being told NO Wheat/Gluten

her name with a dot in between Brenda and Bennett @ Disney dot com

and she emailed me all KINDS of information:goodvibes
we went on Saturday Nov. 29 and we ate quick service at Magic Kingdom and table service at Epcot
Quick service was easy at The village Haus I had a amy's rice crust pizza
( but at 13.00 I may not have another one;)
I took my paper from Brenda saying what place had what GF foods available and showed the cashier what I wanted
But they still had to call a MGR and it he very nice - They were super fantastic and really helpful- food on a different tray- sorry for the wait..etc..

Ate at the garden grill in Epcot and I had sent them a form a week before going about my allergies (Brenda sends you a form to mail back)
The food was fantastic and again everyone was helpful and really just NICE about it all.
I am no longer worried about going to Disney.

Some places in Epcot (not run by Disney) I have been told may not be able to help with allergies. But we have Dec. Reservations for Toyko dining and they have already contacted me as to my allergies after I sent the guest dining form back.
Main Street bakery has awesome GF/CF brownies too!
planning is a key and having back up snacks is always a good thing.
Hope this helps:)

Sandy

what kind of foods are available that are gf/cf and Becky, did you have any problems with cross contamination? Thanks a bunch

The San Angel Inn and the Yak & Yeti are the only two restaurants that people with allergies put a warning on. There has been too many times people have had problems with them. Things could change.

They have Energ buns for hot dogs and burgers. Amy's Gluten free pizza, waffles, cookies and so much more as seen in that thread. They can make special foods like mac and cheese or pasta without wheat.

Almost everything is possible at WDW. Choose a restaurant and you will get burgers, shakes, fries, sweet taters, waffles, cookies, chicken, fish, rice dream, tofutti, soy dream, rice dream desserts, bacon, eggs, pizza and so much more. I have celiac and food allergies and all I do is dream of living near WDW and eating there every day.
