Geyser Point crowds

I want to try Geyser Point for an early dinner on my next trip. I listened to the WDW Radio live review of GP and immediately canceled my BOG reservation. But I've never been there (in fact, I've never been to WL (though I've wanted to stay there since it opened!)). What should I expect for seating/crowd? It'd be the last weekend in August, around 5pm. Is it normally a popular destination, or is it fairly low-key and easy to snag seats for two?

Also, how is it for temperature control? I know it's open air, so I assume there's some powerful fan action going on?

I think it would be crowded at 5pm (pre-dinner drink crowd). Maybe around 3pm would be less crowded?

We went for lunch (11:30am) and had to hover for about 20 minutes to get a seat. It was packed. I don’t remember fans but there could be some. It’s all open air.

It’s covered, but open. We were there last August and had no trouble getting a table at lunchtime and we also had drinks and appetizers at the bar one night. We loved it-beautiful view. I’m not sure how busy 5:00 would be-it never seemed that crazy busy to me.

We ate there around 2:30p on the Thursday before Easter. We did not have a wait, but a few people started wondering in looking for a table around 3p.

We were there last year not too long after it opened. They changed their operation a bit. Last June it was a little confusing as you could just walk up to an open table. You had a lot of people who were getting quick service meals and setting down waiting on them (cast members brought your meals out to you). Now there is a podium that you walk up to and give them your name. Its a lot better experience than we had last year.

There are no high flow fans that I remember. I do know that there are ceiling fans, but nothing that will give you that constant breeze feeling. If you went in later afternoon, there is a stretch of tables that are on the lodge side of the pavilion that you could get some sun on.

They do have an actual bar in the middle the two of you could set at if that was something that interested you.

We stayed WL in early March. Capacity is limited there and we had to sit at the bar the afternoon we visited Geyser (around 2:00pm, IIRC). In August? Let's just say that when I commented to the CM at the podium how nice it must be to work in an area with such a nice view, the first thing he mentioned was that the open-air lounge was extremely hot and humid in the summer -no A/C. We had a couple of drinks and the charcuterie board. The food was good, but nothing amazing. It's a really nice location for a drink, but not something I'd "schedule" in place of an ADR restaurant at all. In the summer, plan to sweat.

We prefer sitting at bars, when available, so that'd work just fine!

I wanted an ADR near MK but was afraid that Artist Point would get us back in the park too late for our evening itinerary. So I booked BOG and DH was not thrilled about it (he ha-ates Beauty and the Beast) (I learned that on our honeymoon). The menu at Geyser Point seems just our speed, so I think we'll give it a try. If GP is too packed and/or too hot, does Territory Lounge serve the Artist Point menu? Or just a limited bar menu?

Wish I could tell you. We wanted to visit Territory, but they it didn't open up until 4:00 or 4:30 and we were generally not at the resort at that time. It's too bad you can't make Artist Point work -it's a favorite of ours.

Depending on when your plans are, the first seating at AP is 5:30 which is a great time to go--less crowded and better chance to get window seat. However, it will have a more leisurely paced meal as is the case for most upscale restaurants. Territory Lounge used to serve much of the AP menu, but within the past 2-3 months they've stopped doing that, and they now have a much more limited menu. You can still get a favorite or two--such as the smoked mushroom bisque and charcuterie--but you'd have to check their menu to see if anything else appealed to you. GP is a nice venue, but likely will be quite warm late in the afternoon/early evening during the late spring through early fall time frame. The menu used to be better there, as well, but they dialed it back several months back. It is pretty, at least.

It's such a short trip that we only have one day for MK, but I wanted to prioritize getting one Signature meal in. I think the only one that wouldn't take too much time out of our MK day is BOG, and DH doesn't like that idea. So instead I've opted to forego our Hollywood Studios night in favor of dinner at Jiko, followed by Trader Sam's or Disney Springs. That way, I don't have to squeeze a Signature meal into our MK day and stare at my watch the whole time.

Artist Point got axed for time, so did Tiffins. But they're at the top of my list for next time! ....in, like, 2027. :guilty:

We had no issue getting a table at any time during our 3 night stay there, and we had a larger party of 6. It’s worth a stop for appetizers and drinks!
