Today was the day we moved the living room furniture around to accommodate more seating for Thanksgiving, which will then be extra space for the Christmas tree in a few weeks. The whole process took 6 hours, and DH was helping me! Once you move one piece, it folds like dominos and you have to clean everything else! There must have been 20 cat toys under the couch, along with the dust bunnies. I cleaned lamps and shades, dusted everything, washed the wood floor and DH applied a wax to it. I vaccumed the couch and chairs and cleaned the windows and sills. All because we wanted to make space for a few extra chairs! So, do you do the same at your house? Is it a major job to get your house ready for the holidays?

I had a luncheon at my house for 20 women last Wednesday, so I have been a cleaning fiend for the last two weeks!!!! Today my two daughters and I celebrated Thanksgiving, since they will be with their dad on the actual day. I had already gotten all my china, crystal, silver, etc. out for the luncheon, so today was actually the easiest T'giving I've ever done. I did my shopping the other day, and bought a fresh turkey (breast), so I cooked for about 3 - 4 hours this morning, we ate, and it was all cleaned up and put away by 3:00pm.

So I won't have the same kind of stress you're having!! BUT, now I'm going to get the Christmas decorations down, and I'll go through the same thing you described for Christmas. Plus, we have an addition this year - a new sunroom - and I'll have to decide where everything will go. Will I keep things in the same place and get some new things for the addition? Or will I move stuff around? Who knows??

And, the BIG question - will the cat, last year a new kitten but now a year old holy terror - get into EVRYTHING and chew her way through the Christmas tree???

It's a good feeling to make some progress, though, isn't it???

I can't wait to decorate for Christmas!!!! I have been home for a few weeks recouperating from surgery and I just want to get my Christmas stuff out!!!! I can't lift anything, so I need my DH to get stuff down out of the attic for me. Maybe I can sweet talk him into getting those boxes down........

I envy you that you have an extra room to put all the stuff in, how exciting (not to mention I've always wanted a sunroom). We had a new kitty last year, now one year old, and he didn't climb the tree last year...maybe now that our kitty's are in their adolescence they will be feeling more feisty. Good Luck! :)

OH yeah, this is our first year in this house and I have about twice the space. Maybe all of my Christmas decorations will actually FIT here :rotfl2:

I have to start decorating ( oh darn) this week because our cookie swap is Dec 9th and we will be out of town for a week between now and then.

So Im going to start digging the decorations out this week and figure out where things are going to go :)
