A friend of mine turned me on to a local frozen yogurt shop here in Vacaville that sells Dole Whip frozen yogurt. So close to the real thing from Disneyland that I can curb those cravings till we go in November.

Where do you get your fix when you're not able to drop into the park and get it?

Being that I live in pineapple land, I can find it at many yogurt shops here in Hawaii. :) Best. Thing. Ever.

When I lived in the Inland Empire, there was a yogurt place that sold it in Redlands.

i just think dole whip is OK.
my mom said they've been selling it for years in the cafeteria of the hospital where she worked as a registered nurse (RN) for 40 years.
she has had dole whip at the hospital and at magic kingdom and said they taste the same and there's nothing special about them in her opinion.

We found Dole Whip at our local Menchie's. They swap out flavors often so it's always a nice surprise when it's there.

I go to Solano Mall and stop by Tutti Melon for my Dole Whip, add some M&M's and it's perfect. :) I usually add strawberries too. lol

Yogurt Beach Shack on Browns Valley Rd. It's in the same shopping center as Bed Bath and Beyond.

I have found them in Tootie Fruity, Menchies and Lapperts in Palm Springs we were able to get a Dole Whip Float just like Disneyland.

I noticed they're not that hard to come across as I once thought.

They opened an actual Dole Whip stand here (San Diego) this year. Was so excited when we stumbled across it.

I'm a DW float fanatic. But I think if I got my DW fix somewhere besides DL, I'd be looking around after a few minutes wondering why the tiki gods weren't introducing themselves. Talk about a letdown.

It is very easy to make a Dole Whip copycat [but the copycat has dairy, and the Dole Whip is non-dairy with a lot of ingredients].

Puree canned pineapple in a blender/food processor, stir in heavy cream and a little sugar and/or pineapple juice to taste, and transfer to an ice cream maker. Reserve some pineapple juice if you want to make a float.

Yeah - we had Dole Whip in San Diego this year. They added it at Belmont Park (Mission Beach).

I'd never seen it outside DL/DW before, but just this last week I saw it at the Washington State Fair! It definitely wasn't there in previous years. But you're right, it's not the same without the Tiki music in the background!

thanks, I'll have to check them out. :)

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has Dole Whips!

I didn't know, I'll have to take a look when we go next.

Why would you think it would be a letdown? Dole Whip is Dole Whip, I like eating it. lol No floats, but I don't like the floats as much as the regular old whip anyway. For me, adding M&M's goes a long to make up for it not being at DL.... ;)

Dole Whip is one of my favorite Disney things! We have a frozen yogurt place nearby that sells a pineapple whip that is darn near perfect -- I'll take what I can get!

I'm working on my PhD applications and I'm seriously considering applying to a few California schools so I can be closer to Disneyland. And Dole Whip. And the beach. ::yes::

If you are getting your PhD in food sciences you should attempt to reformulate the Dole Whip using only natural ingredients. I just wish they would use ingredients that didn't sound like they are formulated in a chemical plant.

As has been noted, it's a non-dairy soft serve and technically not "frozen yogurt" although it's dispensed from the same type of equipment used for real dairy soft serve and frozen yogurt.

There are a few places around here that have it, but it does feel a little bit odd. I've found it at a place called Menchie's. It was fine, but the machines are self-serve and the amount is weighed to determine the sale price. That just feels a little bit weird to me.

I have no problem with the ingredients they use. I know that some companies used to exclaim that you could pronounce all their products' ingredient names (esp Breyer's back in the 80s/90s) but there are a lot of ingredients with exotic sounding names that are fairly simple.

Dole® Pineapple Soft Serve Mix - Naturally & Artificially Flavored
SKU - D581-A6120

Ingredients
Sugar, Dextrose, Stabilizers (Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Guar Gum, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Coconut Oil, Contains 2% Or Less Of Each Of The Following: Maltodextrin, Citric Acid, Natural & Artificial Flavor (contains Pineapple Juice Powder), Modified Food Starch, Malic Acid, Beta Carotene (Color), Mono & Diglycerides, Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking).
None of these ingredients scare me. All the (naturally occuring) gums are used as stabilizers and thickening agents. Basically they're needed to arrive at a pleasant texture. Maltodextrin is a complex carbohydrate that thickens. I suppose they can protect the artificial flavoring as a trade secret. Mono and diglycerides are fats that sort of bridge the difference between water and fats. Without them, different ingredients would probably clump when frozen. And silicon dioxide is basically sand. Sounds weird, but the powder will start caking and probably won't distribute properly when trying to mix it.

Basically this has been carefully formulated to actually work without any dairy ingredients. All this stuff really is needed to keep it from getting to hard, too runny, or all sorts of odd textures that wouldn't make it acceptable as a substitute for a dairy soft serve.

I believe all of these fake ingredients are just designed to reduce the cost of making the whips. They could easily make soft serve pineapple ice cream using all natural ingredients and it would probably taste better.

Take soda for example. Do you really believe Coke uses high fructose corn syrup because they think it tastes better than real cane sugar? I believe they just use it because it is much cheaper.
