Getting your child's teacher a gift from Disney?

Ooooh, I forgot, we also got each teacher a fan from the store in Japan and had their names written on it in Japanese. If you don't want to go that personal, have them write "teacher" in Japanese. I think they were $4 or $5.

Yes, we always bring back a gift for the teachers. We get something paper-related, like a pad of note paper, sticky notes, a cube of paper, etc. I think it' a nice gesture, and most teachers prefer gifts that they can use and eventually disappear. I would avoid coffee mugs and Christmas ornaments...teachers get TONS of these and they often end up at garage sales or given to Goodwill. There have been lots of threads on this board about appropriate teacher gifts (like for Christmas or the end-of-the-year) and most of the teachers say no mugs or ornaments...

The first time we took DD out of school, the teacher asked for a Mouseketeer hat. We've been doing that every since. This year, fourth grade, we told DD9 that we couldn't go. One of her comments was that her current teacher would be the first of her teachers not to get Mouse ears. (Shhhh. Don't tell DD9, but she's getting a surprise trip for her 10th birthday, so her teacher *will* get her ears.)

For her classmates, we buy one of those wheels of character crayons, and give them out.

We just returned from our Disney trip. We brought dd5's teachers each Mickey coffee mugs . I found ones that each had a letter of the alphabet on them. DD picked one for each teacher (the letter that their named started with). I got a gift pack of disney coffee and put one can in each mug. Her kindergarten teachers seemed to really like them. I got the mugs at Mouse Gears at Epcot, and the coffee pack at Animal Kingdom Lodge. The mugs were $6.95.

My younger daughter in 4th grade (at the time) got her teacher a coffee cup because "she drinks a lot of coffee."

My older daugher 6th grade (at the time) got her teacher a nice goofy pen & a photo of her kissing goofy because the teacher said to give Goofy a kiss for her.

We found Mickey "body part" shaped magnetic clips, Mickey cookie cutter, pens, etc. My daughter's teacher has a young daughter who loves SpongeBob so we also brought her a set of SpongeBob magnets from our night at the Nick Hotel. We have also done nothing. I know, I'm bad, but I hate to shop even at Disney.

As a teacher, I not only wouldn't consider it standard practice, I would be very surprized and delighted that you thought of me. Not trying to discourage you at all, but I would not consider it standard. I'm sure the teacher will be touched by your thoughtfulness, should you decide to do this, and will be delighted by anything you might select.

4th grade teacher here -
I'll tell you what I often buy for myself....magnetic clips! I put them on the chalkboard and can hang papers from them, useful in 1,000 ways.

It sounds like I am in the minority here....I bought my DS's 1st grade teacher Minnie Mouse ears (the ones on the hat, not the headband). I wanted to get her name on them, but I ran out of time. I was on my way to an ADR on our last day.

For my DD's preschool teachers I bought kooky pens.

We get chocolate for teachers, and Mickey shaped suckers for classmates. DD already has some of her spending money set aside for suckers (I'll pay for them, but it's cute to think she's doing it!)

How much are the Mickey suckers, does anyone have a picture of what they look like, and can they be 'bought' with snack credits? I also read somewhere that you can get the bag of princess chocolate 'coins' with a snack credit. Does anyone have a pic of those, and/or know if they are totally nut free (one of my daughter's classmates has a severe allergy to peanuts). Thanks so much! I'm just trying to figure out if we'll be able to buy something for my kids classmates (or if they'll just end up with the Mickey stickers that are given out everywhere!)

Please, please, please do not get a mug for a teacher unless they specifically request it! Also, ornaments are next summer's garage sale fodder! Notepads, pens, food--anything that can be used and is not simply decorative--is very much appreciated by most teachers but I could decorate 3 trees with all the "Best Teacher" ornaments and there is no way I have enough room to store all the "#1 Teacher" coffee mugs.

I sound harsh. Sorry 'bout that. I was a huge Mickey fan while teaching (still am) and everyone knew it. Out of 12 years in the classroom, I only received a gift after a Disney trip maybe 2 times. I was very appreciative, but it was never standard practice.

I plan to get gifts for the teachers in my children's Pre-K class, but it will be small and consumable. Mints, chocolate bars, thoughtful but cheap.

We had lots of snack credits left after our trip and brought my kids teachers the chocolate covered Micky rice crispie treats. I got a few for myself too because they are my favorite. Wish I had one right now!

I had a yardsale today. I had one entire table full of teacher ornaments, apple stuff, candles, picture frames, & scented lotions. Most of it did sell. There are most likely some teachers somewhere out there who will be getting that stuff for the upcoming holiday season.

We just got back after taking my son out of school for 6 days. We happened to schedule the trip not only during school, but during parent teacher conference week. So the teacher was nice enough to make him a vacation journal and she's going to have to special arrange a conference date for us. We picked her up a little 3 pack of those weird little Disney clicker pens that clip on to things (I don't know a better way to describe them, LOL). Just colorful little pens, but like someone else said - something she can use rather than just collect dust, I guess.

We always bring a little something back for the kids' teachers, usually a special pen & notepad or something like that. DD's 1st grade teacher still has her Mickey pen on a string attached to her desk blotter so that no one walks off with it.
