Getting worried...

This is our first trip in 20 yrs to WDW. I have one ADR and the more I read on this site the more worried I get.

Is is hard to find a TS meal at dinner time without a resv? I am not sure what parks we will be in when, and really didn't want to be bogged down by time limits.

The restaurants that take resv, do they also let you wait for a table? These are probably all dumb questions and I am sorry. Like I said we haven't been in yrs. We have the free dining so money isn't the issue.

Also, can I use a TS credit for a CS meal?

You can always try a walk up. Sometimes the wait is minimal. One place that is hard to get a walk up is Le Cellier on the weekends. They book quickly. I have been there when they turn people away.

You can also make an ADR a few days in advance. Once you are down there and get an idea of your game plan, you can call up and book an ADR.

I am not sure about the meal credits, I haven't done the dinner plan yet.

I would make a couple of ADRs as back-up plans. If you have a restaurant or two that you'd really like to try, make a reservation. If you find that you're having no problem getting seated and don't want to be tied down, you could cancel once you're there. But if does prove to be an issue, you'll have a few things available to you.

you cannot use a TS credit for TS. secondly just relax you will be fine! honestly! i'm going in September and made all my ressies SUPER early, but recently thought heyyy why not change eveything! and i got everything i wanted NO PROBLEM! i really don't see what all the fuss is about! we're doing Le Cellier, chef mickeys, concourse and a whole bunch of others and had no problems! i even got into CRT! i have a party of fourand have YET to be told there is no space anywhere! i just changed these on monday of last week. i'm most likely going to do some mor echanges too!

Good luck and i highly reccomend going ahead and making ADRs for the places you REALLy want to try. but i think it will be even better come walk up time, since many people will be no shows.

I think it would also depend on your party size.

Why not just give dining a call and check it out for at least one or two days of your trip...it would be very sad not to be able to get a seating at all.

I'd go ahead and guess where you'll be when. Worst case, you're wrong. When you try to get reservations for where you WILL be, you can cancel your original reservations then. However, with reservations somewhere, you know that if nothing is available where you want to eat, you can always go to where you had reservations and eat there.

We usually call when we get there, and they are generally pretty booked, but if you are flexible you should be fine. You just need to uinderstand that you might not eat at some of the more popular places. We just call in the morning and say "what do you have available at Epcot?" and they will tell you! Many of the restaurants are no longer taking walk-ups - in other words, if you don't have an ADR, they will not let you wait for a table. I had a terrible problem with this when I went with my Mom last spring, there was one night when not one restaurant on the monorail loop was taking walk-ups.

I'd strongly advise making ADRs. I understand where you're coming from, people should be able to walk up to a restaurant and wait if they choose, but that's just not the way WDW works at the moment.

It really depends on when you're there and what restaurant. For example, LeCellier or CRT will not be the best places to try to walk up to. But some, like Kona Cafe are usually easier to walk up to and get in. It also depends on when - if you are going during the free dining, everything is much more booked. Also, if you are going at the "regular" eating times. If you go at like 2:30pm, it will be less busy than at 5:30. It's always a good idea to have ADRs, as they are always easy to cancel, but not always easy to get.

Chalk Liberty Tree Tavern as another restaurant that will sometimes book-up completely, and not allow guests to wait for a table. I think the list of such restaurants will be very long.
