Getting video from Comcast DVR to PC - help!

Last night, at the Richmond vs Temple basketball game, they did a baby race at halftime & my youngest DS was in it. He didn't win But the game was televised & a cameraman followed him through the race and DS & I were on live tv!

My mom recorded the game on her Comcast DVR. I want to get the video off of her DVR onto my PC.

DH (who is extremely competent at all things technical) tried hooking up our digital vidoecamera to mom's DVR to copy the video off. But, he couldn't get the DVR to talk to the camera (or something like that).

Anyone have a clue how we can get this video off? I need to get it to something digital (camcorder, memory stick, DVD, etc) and not a VCR tape because we don't have any VCRs hooked up at our house anymore and I want to put the video out on my website.

I was told by Comcast that the DVR's are not capable of doing that. I had comcast come over last week to change my regular DVR to a Dual DVR and I had a show on the old one....I really, really wanted to save. I was told it cannot be done....someday, but not now.

Get a capture card for your pc and hook it up that way.

I know that my Sony Vaio has a TV tuner and is capable of showing tv, so maybe if I turned the DVR on it would play through it? I don't have it hooked up so I can't try it for you, but maybe that's a possibility if you know someone with Sony.

Otherwise, I would consider calling the station and begging for a copy! Who doesn't like little kids!??!?!?!

This is what I was talking about. Just go buy a capture card. No reason it shouldn't work.
