Can you all please clarify for me once and for all.....

If I am renting a DVC stay from a DVC owner, do THEY or do I add the DDP?

Does the DDP need to be paid in advance? I would think if it is charged to the owner, I would need to pay upfront but if I am paying for it, can I just pay for it when I get there?

Is there ANY advantage to getting our park passes before we go versus getting them at arrival (i.e./ can the DVC member get us tickets attached to the DVC stay for less than we would pay ourselves)

Thank you so much for your help!

The owner whos points are used is the only one that can add the DDP to the room reservation. It has to be added at least 48 hours prior to the arrival date. All persons listed on the room reservation must be on the plan for all nights. It has to be paid for in full at the time it's added to the room reservation.

DVC members do not get a discount on daily theme park tickets. If they did, it would not apply to a renter unless they were immediate family living with the member.

Thank you! That is what I keep saying and I keep getting told that I am wrong!

Again what I had thought and was told my info was not correct. It makes sense that as a non-member I get the privilege of using the facility but that should be it.

Since you obviously understand how this all works, can you tell me if there are any other things I need to make sure of ahead of time so I don't get there and find out I can't do anything concerning my trip without the members' okay? I have my rooms/resorts set and that is it. We tried to extend the trip and were told we couldn't so I need to get the rest of this planned right.

thanks!:)

The pre-paid requirement for the dining plan began Oct 2010. The member you rented from would need to handle any changes to the room reservation (names, dates, room requests), adding the dining plan and Disney's Magical Express.

You can purchase theme park tickets from any authorized seller. That could be disney.com, a Disney Store, at WDW (resort or theme park ticket window) or a third party like undercover tourist, maple leaf tickets or your local aaa.

Eek, I hope that "them" isn't the owner! FYI owners don't get a discount on tickets; only APs, and even then only for people living in their house.

If you want discount tickets, I would really recommend looking at undercovertourist.com....

Well....in all fairness, this is what DH is telling me the owner is saying.....that we need to add it. I don't know if DH is not understanding or if the owner isn't understanding DH????? Either way, I know it has to be added before we go!

I've never used undercovertourist before. we've always just gotten them right at Disney as part of our package. Will check it out!

Thanks

If the owner does not know the rules, I woul dbe very worried about your reservation. There is no way for you to verify anything that the owner has done other than to trust them.

Get on the phone now and if you don't like the responses I would find a new person to rent from.

If you want to have more detailed information or have more questions PM me...

If you sign up for the Mouse Savers newsletter, you can get a couple more dollars savings at UT.

The newsletter is electronic and is delivered the 15th of each month - in it is a special discount link for UT.

How are they going to get their money back from the original owner? That's part of the disadvantages of renting, it's hard to just "walk away" and find someone else.

Before last Fall, the renter could add DDP to their stay at check-in. That "rule" changed last Fall though. It must now be added by the owner at least 48 hours prior to check in. You could get a pre-paid credit card in the amount that the DDP would cost and give that number to the Owner. The Owner would then call Member Services to add the DDP to your reservation and give MS the number of the pre-paid credit card.

You can check to make sure your resort reservation has been made by going to MyDisneyReservation.com/DVC
