Hello all- We are going to WDW in March and staying at the Beach Club. We have never stayed on property before. We want to dinner at Whispering Canyon but I am concerned how to get there. I don't imagine there is direct transportation and we won't have a car.

Any suggestions? We arrive (from our Universal Hotel) via taxi on FRiday. I was thinking of making WC our first stop (I currently have a 5:15 reservation) but then can we stow our luggage somewhere and then take Disney transpo to Beach Club to check in?

Thoughts?

I would check-in at the Beach Club and walk or take the boat to Hollywood Studios and ride the resort bus to Wilderness Lodge.

I would definitely check in at the BC before going to dinner so you don't have to haul your luggage around.

The pp's idea on how to get from BC to WL works just fine. As an alternative, you could take a bus to MK and from there catch the boat to WL.

They will take about the same amount of time. Either one you pick, I would leave your room at BC no later than 3:45.

The other option (and one that has worked well for us) is to take a taxi from BC to WL. It'll be around $20 but it gets you there quick.

This shows why prior planning is so important at Disney. If you are arriving from a Universal hotel it appears you have the day to get to Disney. Why plan to arrive approx 5pm? If you plan on taxi from BC to WL you would only need to arrive at BC approx 4pm in order to check in, leave luggage with bell services, then get to WCC. After dinner, Disney transport back, call bell services, luggage arrives and you're set. Thats only 1hr difference from your original plan. Much less stressful than trying to find what to do with luggage, checking late, kids are tired, etc. However you decide on arrival, taxi is much easier transport than Distrans. For about $20 saves at least 30mins between BC/YC/BW/S/D and WL.

Here's my next q- is WC worth the $20 cab? I am debating dining plan or not. If we do the whispering lodge with my other ADRs the DP math works. The cab fare puts it back to closer to even.

Since I am making these reservations so late (just decided to go two weeks ago when good airfare came up!) I can't get quite a few choice ADRs. Right now we have WC, Boma(on our AK) day, and aloha dinner. We are in the park 5 nights.

Open to all suggestions!!

Here's my next q- is WC worth the $20 cab!!

As for the food, depends on your taste; the entertainment value (if you're into it and guests and servers are into it), definitely; the lodge itself, priceless.

BC -> MK -> Boat to WL would also work (but not so quickly).

I'd just take the bus from BC to MK and then take the boat to WL.

I'd just take the bus from BC to MK and then take the boat to WL.

There's a winner! Exactly what I would recommend as well. The buses run often to the MK and the boat runs often and is a very nice and relaxing little trip over to the WL. :thumbsup2

We also vote for the boat from the MK. Just a enjoyable trip over and shows that there are many different ways to get around WDW!!!:):)

Personally I'd consider dropping this ADR in favor of something closer to BC. We've done the bus to MK and then boat to WL but it took us well over an hour. We like WC ok but it's not worth leaving an hour early from Uni and potentially paying a cab both ways--after the 90 min bus/boat gauntlet we took a cab back to our resort. Have you tried for the Cape May Seafood Buffet, KOuzzina on the Boardwalk, or the Captain's Grill at the Yacht Club? These usually aren't filled up but would make for a more relaxing evening where you could explore the boardwalk area after dinner which is one of our fave WDW evening activities.
