Hey guys! I’m visiting WDW at the end of January/February. One day we are going to go to universal/islands of adventure to mainly see the Harry Potter stuff. I’ve been before but it’s only been me and my husband but now we have two small children. This time my husband isn’t going and so it will be me, my two kids (2.5 years and a 14 month old) and my mom. We are driving down to WDW and we will have a car but my mom has a fear of parking garages (Long story short, she was parked in one and went to pull out and a huge chunk of concrete fell onto the hood of her car). I know they have parking garages at universal. I’m not super familiar with cab companies/Uber/Lyft in the area but do any of them offer car seats so our kids can go safely? I don’t mind paying a bit extra either. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Uber and Lyft will only provide one front facing car seat and it isn’t always easy or quick to get a car. I’d either drive and just drop your mom off so she can avoid being in the garage or pay for a car service like Tony Hinds. Driving yourself with your car seats would be my choice.

I paid Lyft $17 to travel from WDW to HRH and $21 for the return trip. The car was available each time within 5 minutes. Just to give you an idea of cost.

I should have been more clear. Uber and Lyft are fast but that’s if you don’t need a car seat. If you need a car seat you may have go wait longer (it also costs about $10 more). It won’t work for OP anyway because they need 2 car seats.

You could always drive to Universal and pay to valet park. It's not cheap, at least $50, maybe up to $60 now, but no waiting on a ride and no garages.

Thanks! I didn’t realize they had valet parking. I may do that!

We used Uber XL with car seat on our last trip and they definitely only had one car seat and it was installed forward facing. It was $30.

You could also guest park at one of the hotels. I think Hard Rock has valet for day guests for $42 and self park for $30.

I was actually just looking into this too. You can call for a Mears taxi from your Disney resort and request one with car seats (I was inquiring about 2 car seats). I don’t know if the wait would be longer but I would give extra notice. They said about $43-47 would be the cost to a Universal from Contemporary in late Jan.

U can also drive up to the top level of the parking garage where there is no danger of anything above you, just blue sky, they also have escalators so ur mom dont have to take stairs. If that's not an option, as other suggested u can use uber but when it comes to car seats, u need to specifically request the car seats and pre schedule the uber as far in advance as possible. If I were u, I would call Universal directly and explain ur situation and see what the options are, u might be pleasantly surprised at what they offer that nobody has mentioned.
