Just got back from WDW - stayed at POR, didn't rent a car at all this time and loved it. But, we do want to go to Universal for a day next time around and are wondering what our best options are to get there if we choose to go car-less next visit.

I suspect we could take a taxi there and back but what is the cost? There will be 3 of us, possibly 4. Are there other options?

2 years ago we rented a car for the week but hardly used it and it cost 225.00. We truly loved using Magical Express this time around and plan to do so next time.

We've always used a taxi. With tip it usually costs about 50. It is just so easy. There are almost always taxis waiting outside the hotel and they are always outside of Universal, or Seaworld. Getting to Seaworld is a bit cheaper than Universal, since it is not quite as far.

You can go to Universal from DW for $15 a person round trip via Mears. You do need to set it up 24 hours in advance. Has anyone done this and were you happy with their service?

Mears has a shuttle that goes back and forth to USO. I've used it when I'm alone (I don't drive) its $12 r/t. You call the day before you want to go and set up a meeting time. Then you can call them an hour before you want to return to WDW and set up a time to go back. Very simple and uncomplicated. Now with 4, it would be $48 r/t where the cab will cost $50 each way, you do the math. I've never had any trouble with this service. HTH. :thumbsup2

Glad to hear the votes of confidence for Mears! We are planning 2 out of 11 days at UO and a taxi for two adults was not worth the cost! Thanks!
