Getting to the parks from FW

Okay, I know I can take the boats over to the MK - and back. We really like the boats, so I think this is the way to go.

But, for the other parks, how do we/should we get around. We'll have our car down there, but it's such a hassle to deal with driving and then getting out, opening the stroller(s), getting on the tram and folding it, then unfolding it and loading everyone back in to walk to the park entrance.

There HAS to be an easier way! :)

We always drive to AK and MGM. Much easier in our opinion than dealing with the shuttle system. We always take the boat to MK and usually take a combination of the boat and monorails to Epcot. Occiassionally we drive to Epcot if we're going there straight from a morning at AK or MGM.

Leaving for the Fort in the morning. :cool1:

You use the Disney bus just like at all the other resorts. MGM bus is in the back of the campgrounds where the boat launch and restaurant are. Everything else you catch up front when check in is at.
You can catch a bus in front of your loop to take you to the settlement post or the outpost.
Won't need a car for internal transportation.

I stayed at FW in July with my 2 year old son (dh couldn't go) - I took the boat to MK with son in stroller and this was convenient but my campsite was within walking distance to the marina. Walking to the marina in the morning was easy but at night, walking back to the camp site was difficult - there isn't really good lighting or directions to the loops. I didn't like walking around lost (and extra walking after an already long day) and the employees that I asked for directions did not know where the loops were. I used the internal bus system when we went to the pool or sing a long and with a diaper bag, stroller and sleeping child, it was a bit difficult. After this experience, I walked if I went to the pool and drove my car to the other parks. I'm going to FW next week and I'll probably drive to MK too because I'm not going to be in a preferred loop within walking distance to the marina. (I agree that the parking lot tram is a pain with small kids & personal strollers - when my son was sleeping, a nice man offerred to help get my stroller and diaper bag on and off the tram - some people say that they just walk to the entance and don't use the trams)

If you are getting off the boat from MK and the walk is too far back to your campsite then go to the bus stop and take the orange, yellow or purple bus to your loop. They tell the loop number when they stop so you don't need to know how to get there. That is why there are 2 bus stops. One in front and another in back.

I used the internal bus system ONCE - the problem isn't the availability of the buses - the problem is getting on and off the bus by myself with a heavy stroller, diaper bag, and young child is not easy. I found it much easier to use my car.

For the MK we always took the boat, when we went with 2 kids (single stroller) we took the buses everywhere else. This last trip with 3 kids (double jogging stroller and double the diapers) we drove, used AAA parking and walked. If we are not in a hurry to get to Epcot we take the boat/monorail.
